• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Need Advice and prayers :)

Being newly married , and being so young has been a bit tough! Not only to say, we all know in this society it sometimes is a bit difficult to be a Christian and do the right thing. Since , my husband and I got a place we have had a lot of financial struggles . On top of being bipolar and my psichiatriay thinking I should be on medicine , I'm just having a hard time. Maybe someone else in this situation? Please say a little prayer.

There was a doctor online years ago that started treating her patients with Fish Oil and vitamin B complex. She treated Bipolar, depression, anxiety and some forms of schizophrenia with it.

Now mind you, she prescribed mega doses three times a day to treat some of her patients, it depends upon the needs of the individual.

Try fish oil and Vitamin B Complex prior to accepting the meds.

I take 3,000 mg. of fish oil, and high potency vitamin B complex.

It takes away the depression and evens me out. As long as I'm on it, I don't have depression at all and I don't have the highs of the manics. I sleep better too!

Took about a week for it to really kick in but when I don't take it for awhile everybody can tell!!!

I've been on it for...about 5 yrs now. I got toxic on lithium and I didn't like the side effects of the other meds. This works for me.

Also got off of the high fructose corn syrup in my diet because it sets up acidosis and a lot of other things in the body. Acidosis wears down the protective coating of the nerve endings, thus...a tiny bit of stress feels like a mack truck hits you.

I also started eating a lot of greens (collards, mustard, kale) to help reduce the acidosis. About 3 to 4 times a week.

And I eat almost all whole grains now. Partial grains, which high fructose corn syrup happens to be, has the same issues with the acidosis.

Even if you try it and it doesn't solve all of the problems, it will help your marriage because it will help you cope with the stress better. :D

I ought of try that. So, just like the fish oil pills? I think even dollar store carries those. Okay, anything to help. I have a very addictive personality and unfortunately I'm nervous being dependent on anything and well even as a child I wouldn't take my meds. I see my therapist once a week, and it usually helps for the first three days . But, don't let me miss service Sunday and therapy Monday or my week is doomed! Thank you

I haven't found the original study that the doctor was doing because I can't remember the name of the doctor; however, I stumbled upon this nice little peice of factual information from (NIH) the National Institutes of Health which is one of our government offices.

Notice, it doesn't come from the NIMH (National Institute of Mental Health).

Understanding nutrition, depression and mental illnesses

Now, be patient and wade through this article. You might have to do some wiki lookups to understand it all if you aren't familiar with what they are talking about, but as I see it, this is MY LIFE, they are talking about.

About 20 years ago, they were talking about institutionalizing me. When I started praying and asking God for help, over the years He has provided one step at a time help to get me to the point I am at today.

There's a free E-book online that I believe every American needs to read, especially anybody with any kind of health problems from physical to mental.

This Famishing World
This Famishing World - McCann - ToC

The most horrible part of all of this, is after you read it and you do some more of your own research you will begin to connect the dots and realize that the majority of our problems are related to what the government allows them to do to our foods supply and the FDA allows them to put into or take out of our food.

I don't suppose that scientific findings will ever change the FDA because there is too much money to be made, but what it can do is help us who suffer.

I wouldn't even be surprised at all if autism and aspergers are caused by nutritional deficiencies.

I am sorry to hear you are struggling.

I am newly married as well and trying to get finances figured out for the both of us is very stressful!

I work at Focus on the Family and one thing that I decided to do that we recommend is the Mvelopes system.

We are also doing the mentoring through Crown Financial Services, and our mentor is amazing. You get matched up with someone and they walk through everythign with you help you figure it all out and it is really nice!

I hope everything works out! I will keep you and your husband in my prayers.

Yes! I definitively think the first year of marriage is hard! We will all pull through with assistance from God! But, we are trying to get our "ducks in a row" so we can have a baby! Stress, stress, stress x 100! Prayers for you too!

Jennifer, the one thing I've learned over the years is that sometimes, not always, but quite a bit of the time, if I'm getting ahead of God's timing it will cause great amounts of stress. OR, if I'm pushing too hard trying to get what I want.

Get your financial ducks in a row. There is a good forum for that, Frugal Village. You want to learn to manage your finances??? That's a really good place to start.

If you hope to be financially squared away to have a baby, in this economy, with what is getting ready to come down on our heads, you need to do a little more than have your finances squared away.

Isaiah 40:31 AMP
31 But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired. [Heb. 12:1-3.]

When I got married I was 20 and my husband 18 , we have been married for 34 years . I am bipolar he is not . We have had many struggles and God has got us through them all . My husband is my main support and is wonderful . He did not know what he was getting into when he married me but he said he would not change a thing . Things were tight when we were first married because it was hard for a 18 year old to get a good job . I will be praying for you .
