Why is it no one is willing to defend all of Mr. Calvin's contradictions of Scripture above? (And who is Ben Johnson? Did he choose to believe in Jesus Christ instead of John Calvin) too?)
According to the word of John Calvin, no one spoke more accurately than himself, as he went about to correct (reform) the inaccuracies of Jesus, the apostle John, and Paul:
John Calvin (on "the seed is the word of God"...Luke 8:11): "This expression, which Christ employs, is not strictly accurate, and yet it is not without meaning; for the wickedness and depravity of men do not make the word to lose its own nature, or to cease to have the character of seed."
John Calvin (on John 8:30): — "While he spoke these things. Though the Jews, at that time, almost resembled a dry and barren soil, yet God did not permit the seed of his word to be entirely lost. Thus, contrary to all hopes, and amidst so many obstructions, some fruit appears. But the Evangelist inaccurately gives the name of faith to that which was only a sort of preparation for faith. For he affirms nothing higher concerning them than that they were disposed to receive the doctrine of Christ, to which also the preceding warning refers."
John Calvin (on John 6:29): "It is idle sophistry, under the pretext of this passage, to maintain that we are justified by works, if faith justifies, because it is likewise called a work. First, it is plain enough that Christ does not speak with strict accuracy, when he calls faith a work, just as Paul makes a comparison between the law of faith and the law of works, (Romans 3:27.) Secondly...."
The commentaries of John Calvin reveal what he thought of Christ, whose son is he, Jesus asked? (the son of God who tells the truth) or the son of the devil, who tells lies that must be corrected/reformed.)
For believers, the choice of who to believe (Jesus Christ or John Calvin) has got to be a no-brainer. (It just appears that Mr. Calvin's work was more a work of unbelief than what Jesus accurately calls 'a work of faith'.
