NCV Bible version

Hi all! I picked up a new Bible over the weekend because it was on sale, to add to my collection. It is a NCV (New Century Version), and I admit I wasn't familiar with this version. Does anyone have any comments about this version? Thanks!

From what I've seen, it looks pretty ok. They've made the effort to translate the concepts as well as the words

I find it interesting to have a number of translations when looking at a particular verse, but have rarely used NCV. Recently I was looking at an obscure verse, and interested in the NCV attempt, and disagreed with their view of this verse, even though it may have been a genuine attempt.

Genesis 33:20 (KJV): "And he erected there an altar, and called it Elelohe-Israel." (mg Elelohe-Israel: that is God the God of Israel)
Genesis 33:20 (NAB): "He set up a memorial stone there and invoked “El, the God of Israel.”
Genesis 33:20 (NCV): "He built an altar there and named it after God, the God of Israel."
