I had never heard of this person before seeing this thread. Can you document how the right, not some extreme outlier of the right but the actual right, has portrayed him as a hero? As for murderous scumbags being portrayed as heroes by people perhaps one might consider that the left has at least as many of those as the right does.
The right considers all US combat veterans as heroes. The right also believes that "war is hell" and a soldier's duty is to do bad things to bad people. So the right is not going to get excited by soldiers at war doing things that would be crimes at home. The right often believes that "whatever wins us the war" determines morality. Thus, the Atomic Bombing of Japanese cities is OK.

The left, on the other hand, may say that soldiers are heroes but not if they violate the rights of others during war. Although many on the left hate all non-socialist soldiers because politics determines morality.
If the right supports a specific soldier as in this case, then the left must oppose him.

You don't just get these allegations against you from a close knit community like Navy Seals.
Coming out against your commander in that community is straight up suicide. Hence why the statement was retracted and he was most likely forced to take the blame to save face or his life.

I got on bad terms with my squad leader in Afghanistan in regular army and the crazy sob smashed my rifle at night before mission. Luckily I was a machine gunner so I had another weapon. Then tried to get me a statement of charges and once back in the states ultimately got me kicked out.
So imagine the level of crazy in the Special Operations community.
These guys don't play. You don't understand.

Whether a person actually committed a crime or not isn't the issue. What matters is his guilt in the eyes of the law. And the law is only as righteous as the people deciding it. Even so, that's all that matters. Is Jussie Smollett guilty of a crime? Was OJ guilty or not? Obviously he wasn't. He wasn't because the jury wasn't convinced by the prosecution's arguments. The navy seal is innocent because the jury said so and that's all that legally matters.

Legally. Ultimately though he's guilty. Same with OJ.

We don't train them to be monsters on the loose.
Accountability should be held when women and children are being harmed.
Just because its over there doesn't make it alright because it's brown people.
I mean really what do you think this guy would do after the military?
Probably a serial killer.
