Considering that "Redskins" was originally given to honor the Native Americans, it will be unlikely the team would make the same mistake and find themselves in the same situation once "Code Talker" is considered offensive.

Really awkward. The Navajo Nation should stay out of it. They were completely offended by the name screaming they were not mascots, etc. I find it strange that they would still want to be associated with a team that oppressed them for so long by wanting to replace it with ‘Code Talkers.’ It’s just weird.

I think you're right. 'Code Talkers' is undeniably about Indians, and a certain tribe. Therefore, it would be just as subject to being called 'racist' as 'Redskins' was.

And make no mistake about the people and organizations that would do that. Sweet reason is not their forte.
