If I asked a kid if a merry-go-round is circular or squarular, and he says "circular;" but he doesn't know diddly about playground physics, would you consider him "looking foolish"?

First of all, "squarular"? What the...?
Secondly, I'd expect that knowing the difference between squares and circles is something that most kids learn very early on.
Your point - if there even was one - seems to have gotten lost amidst an incoherent question about "playground physics", whatever that is.
