• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I was just wondering if any of you have had any success with eating a healthy diet, herbs, etc. known to specifically address OCD. If so how long did you follow the plan and did you feel a lot better, some, or didn't notice any improvement?
Thanks,
Mamma
Besides eating correctly(I eat according to blood type diet), I have found "flower essenses" specificlly addressing OCD.Go to health food store and ask for flower essense's directory about"obsessive & repetitive thoughts", also they have all kinds of different essenses for fears and worries which are typically the basis of OCD's.The nutrition in itself of coarse has to be correct in your diet, but OCD normally has to be addressed both physiclly(diet, meds[or herbs]) and psycologiclly. GOD be with you.

Thanks Frank,
I will check out the flower essenses, it's sounds like there are many choices. One of things that I have been doing is mixing up fruit smoothies and adding flax seed oil etc to them. I think eating right is a good start to help with ocd, as well as some of the herbs.
I am trying to help my daughter manage or overcome the intrusive thoughts and prayer rituals, from what I can tell it sounds like God is viewed as taskmaster who she has to please perfectly or something harmful may happen to those she loves. She knows its not rational but she feels this so strongly she has to react. Ocd is just terrible.

Yes, That's a typical religous OCD which I also have. Get her some christian books about "legalism". GOD be with you.
