  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Yup, it was the fanatics I was talking about - the sort of people that will demand that the "Oz"-books are banned from school libraries because one of the witches in it is a good witch.
The sort of people that will object to pupils reading the diary of Anne Frank, as the poor girl expressed that she doubted the existence of God.

And yes, I agree - fanatics have never solved anything.

It's OK with me if people are adamant about something. If you strongly believe something and want to tell people about it, fine by me. Just be polite about it. Do some research. Actually know what you're debating about before you start pointing fingers and condemning people to Hell.

Then why can't we teach evolution as a theory?
Evolution is a theory - a scientific theory. You know what theory means in that context, don't you? (Anyways, we should stop derailing the thread.)

Of course I know what a "theory" means in that context. All I want to know is if evolution is a theory, why can't a very general, non-exclusive theory of creationism be taught as a theory as well? There IS scientific evidence to support creationism; faith and science are not mutually exclusive. Or does fairness not include Christians?

(And yes, we should stop derailing the thread, but if you attack my faith, I'll fight back.)

*sighs* At least we're agreed fanatics don't solve anything. Anne Frank's diary, and other books, including the other one you mentioned, shouldn't be banned either. If public schools would teach both creationism and evolution side by side, both equally as theories, I'd have less problems with public schools, but that's enough of that in here. If we do want to continue that discussion politely, as was suggested, we can take that over to the proper thread/area (which I'm not against). Thank you, ladies, for keeping things polite in here. I do appreciate that.

They're a great series, and I have re-read them many times. You should read them in order though - the order in which they were originally published, not in the "new" chronological order in which they are being published currently. You'll get a lot more out of them that way.

what books were published first what order? I have and read all of the books very good though he wrote magicians nephew later after lion, witch, and wardrobe saying its the start of the series. and yes him and J.R.R tolkien were friends who were also part of a inklings club or something were writers get together and hang

Yes they are. He certainly has a way with words. I think I've only read Mere Christianity and The Screwtape Letters all the way through. I have Miracles, Problem with Pain, Great Divorce, and others but I have a habit of starting to read a book and then getting sidetracked ...So I haven't read them all.

What do ya'll think?
I haven't read them all (only Lion Witch and Wardrobe, Horse and His Boy, and the Magicians Nephew, and I'm in the middle of Prince Caspian)
I LOVE THEM!!!
many people seem to disagree. they think that they're unchristian, but C.S. Lewis was christian.

I love Narnia!!! :D my favourite books are the 'Voyage of the Dawn Treader'..and 'the Last Battle'. I'll never understand why some people think these books are unchristian ..lol! they are soo Christian! There's a lot of symbolism in the books...and Lewis wrote apologetics, like 'Mere Christianity' and 'Great Divorce' (and lots more)
