Through the movie, I sat and thought about C.S. Lewis. He was a super duper Christian, and I looked for the message that he would have put in it. What did you get out of this that will help you become a better Christian?

Aslan is not "active" as much. What do you make of that?
Reepicheep (did I spell it right?) What do you get from him?
Edmond has shaped up nicely. He is a cool operator. EH?

The only Christian theme I got from the movie came when Lucy went off to find Aslan. During their conversation, he says something along the lines of, "You saw me, but didn't try to get the others to see me." Since Aslan is a Christ-like figure, we could take this as Jesus telling us to make sure we spread the good word and not keep it to ourselves.

I have not read any of the Narnia books so I don't know what, if any, Christian messages were in Lewis' Prince Caspian.

So far I've liked both of these movies. Maybe they're easier to enjoy when you don't know the story going into theatre.

I read the books back in 8th grade(long ago in a galaxy far away.

I don't remember much specifics, but I do remember that Prince Caspian wasn't much older then me at the time(13ish, guessing 15PC, not me)).

I didn't read the series as a Christian. I read it as a fantasy story. It led me to D&D.(gasp, how can a Christian story lead someone to D&D?)
It wasn't until many years later, I realized the link between the two.

I easily spotted the Christian principles in LWW, I don't automatically see them in the scenes, but a trailer is a teaser, not suppose to give anythign away.

Nah, they didn't. They're actually making the next movie based on that book now.
Thanks for that.
My kiddies are getting really excited over this film.

I've never seen the BBC version, but I know the answer (and I didn't look it up :D)

Warwick Davis

Correct.... and It was a terrible part in the BBC adaption (which is probably why CS Lewis never wanted his books made into films.)

I got more out of this Caspian than I did the BBC as far as Christian themes go.
For example waiting on Aslan. I mean in the book every attempt they make to try and defeat the Telmarines without the guidance of Aslan end in failure. Admittedly in the movie they were much more obvious, but still the pride of the two older boys in not waiting for Aslan led to catastrophic events for their army.

In a Christian sense, anything we plan, anything we do, especially those things which are huge plans for our lives, done without waiting on guidance from God will probably end unwell, especially if they're not God's idea for us. Fortunately he turns that misfortune into good for us, just as Aslan set all to rights in all of the Narnian Chronicles, however, alot of pain could've been avoided, and can be avoided if the characters in PC, and if we would just listen to the call of our Lord.

I actually really liked Prince Caspian. The God as Aslan angle wasn't as obvious in this movie, but I think that actually made it better. So often in real life it feels like God isn't present - and yet he always is. This is how it played out in the movie - everyone felt like Aslan was gone, but he wasn't gone, they just weren't willing to follow him.

I'm not sure I'd say Prince Caspian was the best movie I've seen in the last year, but I'd certainly watch it again. And to me that's always the sign of a good movie. :)

For me, I couldn't quite get past Prince Caspian's accent and his acting was... eh. I think the movie felt long and I couldn't see the connections to Biblical stories as I did in the first one. Also, for some reason I found myself thinking, "maybe they got less funding for this movie than they did for the first one," because it wasn't as eye pleasing as the first one.

I heard someone suggest that the movie runs parallel to the tribulation times. Narnian's = the 144,000 and the Telmarines = the unbelievers.

Then the next movie is supposed to be the great battle? where Jesus/Aslan comes riding in on a white horse?

Note: I never read the book.

Sneak peak at The Last Battle, filming now!
haha.

Seriously though, I have not heard anyone offer the perspective that there is anything tribulation-times related with Prince Caspian. Not a valid analogy idea.

The Last Battle is the Narnian end times story.
Each book has a ton of Christian allegory and morals you can apply to every step in Christian life. LWW is about the redemption of traitors and ultimately tells the Easter Story. Prince Caspian is about waiting on the Lords timing. Voyage of the dawn treader has a bunch of stuff, mostly about how only Christ can save you. The Silver Chair is about following Christs instructions. The Magicians Nephew tells the creation story. The Horse and His boy is about how Christ often chases us, herds us, leads us, and brings us to a better place, and the Last Battle is Armageddon Narnia style. It's all about heaven, and the true reality of it. I just finished reading it for the billionth time today and I cried. Beautiful.

If you haven't read the books, you really, really really really need to read them. They're written by a man of God who really nailed his allegory well.

I don't think the movie was that bad. I just hope they get through all the Chronicles this time around. It stunk they stopped at the Silver Chair last time.

Reepicheep rocked my world this time around!

i saw it a second time and it was MUCH much better since i wasn't trying to keep track of how it diverged from the novel. I was actually surprised at how well it help up on a second viewing.

I actually did the same thing, and am with you on that.

I think he's a great character. A mouse is not exactly who you would expect to be the bravest, most noble person in the movie. But that's exactly how God works - making the unexpected into the extroridnary.

I just wish we would have seen more!
