• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Surprised no one has posted any bible verses yet that prove tiny things are immoral. Maybe the thread should be moved to GA.

Self-replicating nanotechnology will really make the world a far more interesting place. Unless we all turn to goo.

Maybe this should be in the Crevo forum. From goo to you and then back to goo again.

haha, well perhaps YOU will but I'm going to start stockpiling EMP devices, by the time they run rampant I'll have them set to blow everywhere within a two hundred mile radius of me. Sure, there'll be collateral damage but everything else will be goo, Then comes the best part...
I SHALL BOTTLE THIS GOO AND SELL IT TO THE SURVIVING PUBLIC AT A TWO HUNDRED PERCENT MARGIN OF PROFIT~!!!
This will panic the market and send them into a stockpiling frenzy, the resulting chaos will surely overstress the remaining infrastructure to the breaking point, which will make a hostile coup child's play...at that point, if it's not me it will be someone else. I shall seize control of the government and bring forth a new order, which shall capitulate to a single throne, and from that throne, I shall watch over you!
And...well there is one more thing...
MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA~!

The Grey Goo theory is interesting and makes for good science fiction...but I think humans are good enough at destruction to figgure something out if that should happen

I am guessing the poll most have been phrased oddly or something like that.

No technology is really immoral, but rather the application of it can be. A knife can be used to cut bread or cut a person.

People are giving Christians the strawman right now. It is disgusting.

Yeah, because we've done such a wonderful job of dealing with things like MRSA and VRS

True, but those are things we cant just go after with guns blazing because we'll kill the host body. We can destroy the viruses NO problem, but it usually kills the person who's infected so we have to be careful.

With Grey Goo, a good shot of electromagnetic energy would be sufficent to fry a large mass of it

 Nanotechnology is immoral now????  *shakes head* OP, you're not the only one who is dumbfounded. I personally find nanotechnology to be an exciting new field that is morally neutral.

I could have thought that guy was looking so dumbfouded at all those groupies voting for Obama!

Really, we have been witnessing the incredible lack of morality of society to possess even the technology it has had over the last 20 years. Science has given us fishing sonar. What did people do with it? People who before had no interest in fishing when they had to learn how to find them, suddenly went out and bought boats equiped with this technology and ignored the limit of fish allowed by law. The result? Fished out waters.

Science gave us miniature cameras and sound recorders. We all know what has happened to our society as a result of this technology being available to the general public.

To make this technology undetectable is to remove any privacy each of us now has. 24/7 Think about it. One might think, "What would be so interesting about me to remove my privacy and make my life's private moments an open book to the public?" You would be suprised.

I even heard that someone once killed someone else with a hammer. And don't get me started on fire.
