So are theocratic mind control cults, like the publishers of the Epoch Times.

But Daisy's main point was that the ex-girlfriend was potentially out of date and we have other information (probably in this thead) about DePape's interest in RW conspiracies. (Perhaps anti-vax ones as well. The old hippies, natural food crowd, and RW-types have all fallen for that nonsense. It is a kind of gateway to the far right these days.)

Can you specifically name any conspiracies he professed belief in?

Thanks for clearing that up...

I only read maybe 4 pages, didn't see anything credible, skipped to the last page and it looked like posters were utterly convinced he's some right wing menace to the establishment.

Apparently, that's not based on anything though.

I have enough warnings, thanks.

ETA: You can maybe locate the archives of the no longer there blogs on his website frenlyfrens. Some have suggested his use of fren is a reference to 'far right ethno nationalist', one of the cutesie-pie things the neonazis call themselves these days.

People suggest all sorts of things, but he was last registered as a Green Party member (far left) and his own son says he has no far right leanings.

I'll take a gander though, ty.

His own son said that he doesn't know that his father even was the attacker or that maybe his father was Pelosi's sex slave (according to the unreliable DailyMail), so I don't know how much credit I'd be willing to grant him. How much does his own son even know about his current views? He might be in a bit of denial and ignorance after not being in contact for years.

You don't need to add words like "unreliable" in front of a source...unreliability and bias are pretty much expected from mainstream media sources at this point.

Well it's his son...so if I had to guess? He's probably more familiar with his dad's views than a random internet stranger.

It's funny, I don't recall you applying such scrutiny to characterizations of familial relations in police involved incidents in the news.

Regardless, DePape seems to have been struggling with serious mental illness issues from the state of his blogs. He seemed frustrated with the lack of "fairy houses" with functional doors available for purchase online. It's a degree of impairment that suggests schizophrenia or bipolar or psychotic depression or similar mental illness.

Given that this is actually a marginalised group with real struggles, the people who claim to care about those people should be using this as an opportunity to advocate for better mental healthcare and options and means. It looks like multiple people knew this man was struggling but weren't able to get him any help. I find it detestable that people use this as an opportunity to push some political agenda that won't do anything to prevent such incidents in the future.

Well, sure, reliability is not an absolute but I find some to be better than others. You are welcome to skip over that part; less so to tell me what I “need” to say or leave unsaid, daddy.

Perhaps but he is also denying that his dad, from whom he’s been estranged for years so missing the descent into madness, did the deed caught on camera and attested to by the victim and police witnesses, so…perhaps not.

It's funny, I don't recall you applying such scrutiny to characterizations of familial relations in police involved incidents in the news.
I have no idea what you are talking about but, in the same vein, I don’t recall you giving credence to the same. I don’t recall it coming up.

Obviously. And he seems to have become fixated on left wing figures as being dangerous.

Are you claiming to care? Or are you reveling in the opportunity to express your disdain over people not responding in a prescribed, performative manner?

Nudism isn't a "left wing" movement. There are nudists of all sorts of political persuasions.
Indeed. IN fact, the majority of the nudists I know are actually more to the right politically.

Well that's not going to help his defense.
Speaking of his defense...

Man accused of attacking Paul Pelosi, stirring up right-wing conspiracies, faces San Francisco jury

A police body-camera video viewed worldwide showed a man hammering the skull of Paul Pelosi, the husband of the former House speaker, after the attacker smashed through the windows of the San Francisco couple’s home in what he described to investigators as a plot to interrogate the Democratic lawmaker and possibly “break her kneecaps.”

DePape carried a backpack full of zip ties, tape, rope and a hammer, which he used along with his own body force to smash his way into the house, according to court records and video.

While the assault charge will be much easier to prove given the video evidence, the kidnapping charge is a “pretty high bar” for the prosecution to clear, said Nathan Hochman, a former federal prosecutor and defense attorney and candidate for Los Angeles County district attorney.

Despite public questions over DePape’s mental health, his attorneys are not expected to raise that argument during trial and did not question the jury on the issue of competence.

The attack itself has inspired conspiracies from some of the most politically influential and powerful pundits, including billionaire Elon Musk, former Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson and Donald Trump Jr., son of the former president, who’ve used the alleged assault to mock the Pelosi family or cast doubt on certain details to use as fodder for their conservative bases.

So slow, American justice. He should be banged up by now for Grievous Bodily Harm. It is still possible to proceed with other charges while he is serving his sentence.
I'm pretty sure double jeopardy requires him to be tried for the same conduct only once (well sort of. State and Feds can both prosecute though that's rare.) So no they couldn't just after him for the easy case and then the hard one when they had time.
