Is not God a name for Jesus and Jesus a name for God?

Good question! I know what you are saying,yet even after all these years I cannot fully comprehend that. I mean when Jesus was here on earth He constantly prayed to His Father. The scripture Of God delivering up His own son,ect countless others tell me,they are two seperate entities,so I can't help but be confused on whether the Trinity is just a "man-made' concept.I believe in Father,Son,and Holy Spirit ,but just am not sure at all about 3 being one and the same! The Holy spirit to my understanding does not act on His own,but only at God's direction. We are supposed to pray to God in the name of Jesus,not pray to Jesus. Many such examples.
