  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

'When the baby was eight days old, they all came for the circumcision ceremony. They wanted to name him Zechariah, after his father. But Elizabeth said, “No! His name is John!” “What?” they exclaimed. “There is no one in all your family by that name.” So they used gestures to ask the baby’s father what he wanted to name him. He motioned for a writing tablet, and to everyone’s surprise, he wrote, “His name is John.” - Luke 1:59-63

LESSON:
Names are important. They precede the birthing of miracles and God's purpose in a man. God had to change Abraham, Sarah, and even Jacob's name at some point to bring His plans on earth to fruition. Therefore, as Christians, we must be careful with what names we give our children, ourselves, and even our businesses. They shape destinies. If you want to name your child, seek God's face. Ask for insight into the divine destiny of the child and the name that calls forth that destiny, from the realms of the spirit into physical manifestation.

This is an important point and something that many parents don't seem to get. I have seen some horrible baby names, even where the govt has had to intervene on behalf of the child because the name given by the parents was so bad for the child. It is good to put thought and prayer into any name a parent wants to give a child.
