Yes, I remember Johnny Dalquist. I also am fond of Lazarus Long, a recurring character by Robert Heinlein.

More favorites include Gandalf, Frodo, Bilbo, Aragorn, and the whole cast of the Lord of the Rings. Another group I like is Harry Potter and friends.
