Our healthcare system, although expensive, has been the source of more medical advancement and innovation than any other country in the world. While all the other, "more affordable" countries have much high mortality rates for diseases like cancer. Yes, if you have cancer, there is no better place to be cured than the US.
Well, it is not good to know that you would willingly disarm yourself and leave your family vulnerable to an armed criminal breaking into your home to kill you, steal your belongings and rape your family to appease a tyrannical government.
Well, then I suggest that you go to the middle east and actually go face to face with radical ISIS fighters like I have and see if it doesn't change your mind. I kid you not. If people like me weren't killing them in the undisclosed location in the middle east that I am currently at now, they would be killing multitudes of Americans on American soil. 911 would be as common as Biden's bafoonery.I have no doubt that you fought and it is a credit to your courage and personal devotion to our country that you did so. Whether it was actually to protect our freedom is questionable.
If you actually live long enough while waiting to get treatment in the other countries.Wrong. If you have cancer, and have wealth, there is no better place to be cured than the US. For the poor, the US isn't a good place to treat cancer.
Mark my words, banning guns will be just as effective as banning alcohol and drugs. There are literally tens of millions of guns in the country. Banning guns will not magically remove them. The only people who will willingly give up their guns are law abiding citizens. For everyone else, ironically they will be removed at the point of a gun.I've been "disarmed" for 46 years, and no one has broken into my home, stolen my belongings, and raped my family. I'm not in fear of such happening.
I am certainly concerned about the potential for government tyranny, and never more so than under Trump, who admires dictators and has made his authoritarian leanings quite clear. People having guns won't stop the government from installing tyranny.
You do realize, that if guns were illegal, it would make identifying criminals with guns thousands of times easier than it is today. As it stands, criminals and potential criminals can possess guns, and law enforcement can't easily and reasonably conclude that they are a danger until after they've used them. If guns were illegal, the mere possession of guns would allow for law enforcement to act.
Why is it that other countries which have stricter gun laws haven't devolved into the mythological disaster that you contend will befall America if we outlaw guns? Perhaps it's because your fears aren't rooted in logic, reason, or evidence.
Sigh...because only law abiding citizens will be unarmed and unable to protect themselves from the criminals with guns.

So? let’s get rid of, (or rewrite) the Second Amendment!Gonna create A LOT of felons overnight. I seriously doubt most gun owners would comply with unconstitutional confiscation orders.

Those people wanting to ban guns are those with out enemies in this world.

The majority of gun deaths in the US in any year I've looked up are people killed with their own firearms.
The mantra ' if we don't have guns we'll get killed' is one of those things that only sounds reasonable until you compare it with things that actually happen.
Yall can still own a shotgun can't you?
Yes - it's called "suicide"
And Japan, with no guns, has more of it than we do...
Nope. Australia, New Zealand and Canada are completely independent states that happen to share the same monarch. They don't have the Queen of England on their currency. They have Elizabeth Windsor who separately holds the title of Queen of Australia, Queen of New Zealand, and Queen of Canada. In fact when the rules of succession to the Crown were changed in England the Commonwealth Realms all had to change it in their domestic law separately.Nope. Australia, New Zealand, and Canada are technically still under the rule of the British monarchy as a semi-intependent states. Which is why they have the Queen of England on their currency. They absolutely did not "achieve the same goal without bloodshed".
yeah, but what about all the wanna-be Minute Men who need their pretend army guns to protect themselves against The Gummint?Suicides are a big chunk of it, accidental deaths are also pretty high. It’s hard to find anything concrete showing that the potential benefits of keeping a firearm outweigh the benefits.
Japan, and some other Asian cultures, have a different attitude towards suicide. The comparison, and the difference in numbers is very small, says nothing to defend the idea that people ‘need’ to be armed. In developed countries where people don’t own firearms the rate of homicide drops sharply. Some people may want to own weapons because it makes them feel safer, but having less weapons is what promotes safety, as is obvious in the comparison between the US and many other developed countries.
Do you have a source for individual stats for the US? Rates for the Americas seemed to be skewed slightly by lower mortality rates in Brazil. Europe as a whole has higher mortality rates, but not what I would call 'much higher'. Russia, and Eastern Europe (a surprise for me anyway) has lower rates than either Western & Central Europe or the Americas.
