The Church is Crisis body. I used to be like you and think that a Physical building with a leader is so important but its not. Jesus said we get into Heaven by believing in him. Not some Church, the Church is Christs BODY not a building.

I said nothing of a building or a leader. I did, however, say that God established an organization here and that people should probably listen to it. The argument that you can ignore the church itself as a historic instrument, while exalting the bible itself, is without any merit. It is the same as cutting off your legs, expecting the reduced weight to allow you to run faster.

Shhhhhhhh...keep it down...keep it down.

Of course, the church is Christ's body, of which all believers are a part, but, around here, some people will tell you that you need to eat the church to be saved.

I know...I know...it sounds crazy, but after you've already been saved through infant baptism, then you're saved through eating the church.

What?

It doesn't make sense?

Just take out your brain and you'll be alright...

Paul would be considered a Calvinist if he were alive today. He taught all five points. And he would probably avoid big "c" churches like the plague that they are.

Another thing I used to believe but do not anymore is that Catholics actually had something going for them. A read through the Bible and the grace of God cured me of that notion.

Amen. When you read the Bible, it just doesnt match up with Catholiscim. The Bible is centered around Jesus, not Mary or a Church.

St. Paul and St. Augustine were quite the Calvinists, John Calvin thought so. I'm thankful I do not have to deny historical facts like the crusades, indulgences, contradictions between authorities, and tyranny of Popes. Yeah, I don't have to deny the history in John Foxe's book of "Martyrs" either, or the terrible crimes against Christians like William Tyndale. I am sure many Catholics would love to erase history, but since it is so documented, all Catholics can do is try to "re-write" and soften the hard truths.

That is certainly one thing I used to believe, that the Apostle Paul was a Calvinist.

Biblical evidence of this?Jesus is the cornerstone. Not peter. The Church (body of believers) was built upon his Faith if you read the Bible like Matthew 16 in its full context.

Since the church is the body of Christ belief in Christ implies belief in and participation in the church.

Ok?I know Hebrews 10:24,25 says we shouldn't forsake the gathering of our fellow believers in Christ. I don't see anywhere in the Bible that says I must listen to a pope or I have to worship God in a Liturgical manner.

I gave up using a 66 book bible - 73 seems so much more holy ;)

66 being close to 666 while 73 is a 7 for perfection and a 3 for the Holy Trinity :)

Indeed.
