1 Peter 3:10. For he that will love life, and see good days, let him
refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile.
Guile=deceit, falsehood.
Opposite of upright, blameless, perfect.
When Paul teaches justification by faith, he quotes:
Psalm 32:
1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity,
and in whose spirit there is no guile.
Paul in Romans 4:7 quotes verse one,
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
Notice verse 8 only quotes the first half of verse 2.
The Grace of God forgives transgression, covers sin, and does not
impute iniquity.
Obedience to the Spirit of Truth is required to cleanse
our hearts and lips of all guile.
Psalm 63:11. The King shall rejoice in God; everyone who swears by Him shall glory;
but the mouth of those who speak lies shall be stopped.
Psalm 101:7. He who works deceit shall not dwell within my house;
He who tells lies shall not be established in my presence.
Psalm 120:2. Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue.
Revelation 21:
8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
27 But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination
or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
Revelation 22:
14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree
of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.
15 But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral, and murderers and idolaters,
and whoever loves and practices a lie.
Psalm 31:18. Let the lying lips be put to silence, which speak insolent
things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.
