  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

right on! I was reading in "growing a healthy church" that today's church is so into it's self that we're not using the principles of going out and establishing intentional relationships with non-chrisitans like Christ did to draw them in because we think we're too holy/better/sinless/etc., we can't even hang out for a night...what's up with that...

I have a myspace account and didn't even think about it being an issue until reading this thread ^_^

I haven't been a Christian for all that long. I have way more non-christian friends than I do christian ones. (there is just an extra depth when comparing my few close christian friends to any others)

It's funny because my MSN messenger names are always about God lately, and I get a lot of messages like: "What's up with your names lately? Are you gay or something?" haha :p

Anyway, my point is I don't even think twice about associating with non-christians, but if I'm going to work or to hang out with non-christian friends I always pray that I set a good example among them. :prayer:

maybe one day these non-christian friends will be brothers and sisters in Christ :pray: and maybe the lord will use me to help accomplish that! every little bit counts

I dunno but I think Imma open up an account there. The key is to be the influence not the influenced. If you notice when Jesus walked to the ghettos of Jerusalem he didn't become like the people but he cleansed the people. For me that's a really difficult task so I guess myspace.com is a another avenue to try.

I have a myspace account, but apparently I dont even know how to use it right :p.

If I am in msn and I click on the "my msn space" button I can get into it and edit it and such. But if I click "sign out".....so that I can copy the link so others can enter.....I dont know how to get in as an outsider. :confused:

AH HA! I figured it out!

Unfortunately, I dont like what I see. When I am logged in, my photos scroll through, almost like a sllide show......but when I am looking at it as an outsider, the photos dont move :confused:

I dunno! I never got any comments from that one blog entry, so im guessing that means people either dont know its there, or dont care to read. So I doubt I will keep up.

I had an account with myspace and ended up cancelling it. I agree with many of you that we should be a light in dark places but when the dark places start rubbing off on you that's not a good thing. I was shocked once when I logged in to myspace and a new members picture popped up exposing her breasts. I don't need that in my life. It disturbs my peace and could even affect my walk with Christ.

So, I guess if you have an account there be cautious and just make sure you are not affected by all the sensual ads and filth that is in the site. If you can handle that then good for you. But I don't know that I would go so far as to say that Jesus would have an account there. I just don't think he would endorse it. He did say, "But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her already committed adultery with her in his heart." (Matt. 5:28) I think for a lot of people it could be setting them up to fall (sin) and I just don't see Jesus sending people there under those conditions.

Again, if you are not affected by those type of surroundings then, hey, that's between you and Him. I know that there are Christians there at myspace. I am all for Christians reaching out to non-Christians outside of church but when it is in an environment that can cause us to conform to the world and its ways I steer away. I have had a couple of opportunities to share my faith with non-Christians in these forums (christianforums). Just go to outreach section of christianforums. Well, hope this helps somebody. hmm...I guess I got an account there also...I remember filling something out when I updated my msn messenger....so, yeah, I'm there....just haven't figured it all out yet! :p

I also agree that just because it might not be intended for Christians is no reason for us to stay away. If we are afraid to associate with unbelievers than who's going to reach them?
