[I have had a couple of dreams recently about my wife (of 10 years) leaving me. I do not believe that this is personal in nature (she wouldn’t dare) as we are very happily married with 3 children.

However, in these dreams she disappears without any explanation or trace, leaving me and the children alone. No forwarding address, telephone numbers, e-mail address nothing. She completely breaks all ties with her mother and sisters also, so it is not just me and the kids she deserts.

In the first of these dreams (there have been 2 so far) I got the impression that she was on her own somewhere, far off, lost, sad and alone, not with anyone else and I was concerned about her wellbeing, not bitter or angry with her for leaving. I just wanted to know that she was OK.

In the second dream it was as though I had come to terms with her disappearance and although still concerned and missing her greatly, I had accepted it. I may also have been looking for someone else to replace her in my dream (which is impossible and I feel kind of guilty about).]

I have a couple of theories of my own, but am open to any suggestions about these 2 dreams.

[They were within the context of other dreams on the same nights which I am not sure are related to this particular scenario, as though they were wrapped within something else my mind was trying to unravel that night. For example I think the first dream involved a large house with many well furnished interconnecting rooms but I struggle to recall any more than this.

The second dream involved me boarding or being forced to board a boat or ferry. It appeared to be a prison ship as there were guards forcing people (men) inside, but the prisoners managed to close the door locking all but one of them out. They then went about dealing with this one guard before looking at how to take control of the ship.

I wandered towards the front of the boat (bow) where I discovered some ‘cages’ underfoot, beneath my feet, walking on them. Inside the cages were families, men women and children, packed tightly, some lying down as though they were sick? An elderly woman looked up at me hopefully but said nothing.

There was an overhanging deck or mezzanine above the ‘cages’ below and as I looked, hidden in its shadow, stood my middle son, who is 3 now but in the dream was only about 18 months old. I picked him up and held him tightly, as he seemed to be in the wrong place.

This dream then ‘morphed’ into another (as dreams do) but somehow seemed to be a continuation of the prison ship dream. I was on a bus/coach and may have been on the top deck which may have been open roofed like a tour bus.

I was searching the skies for something expectantly and was not disappointed to observe a UFO or other strange craft pulling impossible zigzag and looping manoeuvres, leaving a vapour trail behind as it did so. I felt that the bus was on its way to a prison or other place of incarceration.]

As you might imagine I am struggling to interpret all this and unpick one scenario from another, even after much prayerful consideration. So I am wondering if the Lord has given anyone out there in D&V land a lead or word for me, especially in relation to the main title of this thread???

I don't think I got any word from God about this, but I'll just give you some ideas.

It could be that you were abandoned before by a woman and this is an expression of a subconscious fear that you have about it.

It could be that she does feel alone like that in some ways. Despite a good relationship, people can still feel alone in certain areas of their lives.

The second dream involved me boarding or being forced to board a boat or ferry. Whenever I see dreams like this, right or wrong, the first thing I think of is the way that the devil holds captive the minds of the world. It is almost if that ship is the devil's going down to hell. Maybe your son was in that place spiritually, even at a young age, and you took him out of there. However, perhaps the last part of the dream on the bus is a manifestation of the fact that you are not completely free. Or that you fear you are not.

Nothing personal, but just giving my impression from what you wrote.

Hi Jeff

Thanks for your impressions, there may be some truth in them.

The only woman who has ever truly deserted me is my mother who died of cancer several years ago. I had considered that these dreams may in some way be related to that.

As for being alone sometimes you are right, we all are in some way, especially at the end in judgement, it will just be me, her, you individually before God. We are all alone in that respect regardless of earthly relationships.

This son is the one I worry about the most, the one I feel closest to, the one I see as most vulnerable and in need of saving in some way, even at such a young age, yes.

Nothing personal taken, I asked for observations, all welcome.

Hopefully your wife does not represent the Euro.

What deep sorrow in the first dream. Pray for her health. It sounds like the alienation and grief a person might feel if they had a terminal disease. It is horrible of me to suggest that though, so take that completely into prayer and don't let it sit with you. We are all terminal.

Interesting you should say that about the Euro parsley, you see my wife is French, so in our house I suppose she does represent the Euro. Elaborate on that train of thought if you will please.

It certainly does sound like grief and I almost used that word in my description of the dream but chose not to, which is why I have also considered it being about my mother in some way.

We are indeed all terminal, I have and will continue to pray for her, but am not certain it is about her health etc.

Thankyou for contributing your thoughts.

Well I was sort of joking, but yes.
Even though the Euro was up today, there was some talk on the news about the tentative life span of the Euro. The wife's unexplained disappearance seemed similar to how a nation would feel with currency replaced. Most of Europe has already gone through that with national currencies.

It sounds like the current talks are coming to a close.

I believe it is in relation to this: The Persecuted Saints - http://www.christianforums.com/t7612638/

Hi Sue

Thanks for contributing your thoughts too, I can see how this fits, especially with the prison ship part and also the 10 days of persecution in relation to 10 years of marriage.

These dreams being somehow symbolic of the church and my wife perhaps representing the Bride of Christ was one of my initial thoughts, but your link has added more weight to this.
