People get SICK, and I mean SICK off those birth control shots. I am not a doctor but unless your doctor is telling you to do this it is just about the last thing in the world I would suggest as a way to make your period less bad. I agree 100% here, in fact I was going to suggest that it might be your birth control making you ill :(
I told my mom I didn't want to get the Depo-Provera shot. She's taking me to the doctor this week to get me back on the pill. I'm going on a different brand to see if it works better than the one I was taking.

You were wise to refuse the Provera shot.

Drugs are generally a bad thing, even the prescription drugs, which are often under-tested and under-regulated. When you take a drug, you are putting a chemical in your body that is designed to be potent enough to correct some part of your system, yet it is expected to be impotent enough to leave the rest of your body unharmed.

Doctors in the United States do not prescribe birth control pills to regulate periods. That is done only in Europe. I suggest that you do not take drugs unless they are absolutely necessary, and it is NOT absolutely necessary to regulate your periods. Your period cycle will correct itself.

That is very good news, I'm glad to hear it.

Anyway, I have been looking around, a good quote from an MD on how to gain weight:

If you think you're too thin and want to gain weight, don't just sit on the couch and stuff yourself with food. Weight gain should always be in the form of muscle, not fat. To build muscle, start a weight-bearing exercise program. Go to a gym and learn how to do the weight training circuit. Build up those arms and legs! As you exercise, your appetite will respond to meet your needs. It only takes 15 extra grams of protein a day to build a pound of muscle a week -- so you really won't need to eat a lot more. Muscle weighs more than fat.

It's never too late to start a weight training program. Underweight older people look and feel frail because they have lost most of their muscles, not because of lack of fat. If you are inactive, you lose muscle mass to the point where you are unable to carry out daily activities -- climbing stairs, getting up out of a chair -- because your muscles are not strong enough to move the weight of your own body. Don't try to add fat to a weak body. Overweight older people often have the double burden of weak muscles AND 20, 40 or more extra pounds to lug around with them every day.

Once you are exercising regularly and gaining muscle, your appetite will probably increase and you will eat more without any conscious effort. Most muscular people and heavy exercisers will eat plenty to meet their calorie needs. The training tables for football teams are piled high with every kind of food.

Don't worry if you lose a lot of weight because of a temporary illness. You will recover your appetite and return to your normal weight, gradually, without overeating. However, unexplained weight loss is a serious concern and should be reported to your doctor.

Broken Doll,

I can relate! Before I go on, I must ask, have you been thin all of your life? If you have been thin all of your life, then you cannot help it! It is who you are. Some people are meant to be a little on the heavy side, some are meant to be "normal looking" and some are meant to be very thin. I have been thin all of my life and it's been an issue. I am currently 5'6" and 110-115lbs. It varies.

Growing up thin wasn't easy for me. I would always have people make fun of me for it. I was teased a lot by both family and people I knew as friends. People tend to think that there is nothing wrong with making fun of a thin person (atleast in my case) but making fun of an obese one is not okay. I happen to think that neither is something to be made fun of or teased about.

I let people's comments and thoughts on my weight influence the way I felt about my body and this created a huge confidence problem. I struggled a lot to gain weight, but I can't gain any no matter what I eat or take, so I've come to the conclusion that it is okay to be who I am.

Now... if you have not been thin all your life and you have been slowly losing weight, then it might be a problem that needs to be checked out.

If not, just look at what I said up there. Be proud of who you are and what you look like. While some may not find your weight attractive or acceptable - others will! We all have different opinions and perception of "beauty" - but in the end, please remember that what we look like does not matter. Being superficial is something of the world/people of the world. Don't try to change anything about yourself unless *YOU* feel it's time to change, and don't let anyone influence your decisions.

Keep us updated!

It´s a painful world, i got a problem as i´m so tall (6'3.6") that it reaches humoristic levels, as i even had to saw off the end part of my bed to fit in it and my shoe size is: 14!(hard to find).
at younger age i was even teased about my big feet, i was called: canoe, and it didnt feel good at all.

and even more i was teased about having classes, (by the same teaserS) and as i know think about those times, i dont want to be nothing waht those teasers were.
Gaining weight is not a problem to my little sister (16years) I think she would pay all of her moneys to have the property of "not gaining weight easily".

research what you were diagnosed with, find out what you can do to make your body healthier. you should not have to try cutting yourself, doing drugs, drinking or smoking to get your parents attention. but i know how you feel there. i used to write my mom letters explaining how i felt about things, because i never had the chance to get it all out in words. try that, it might work for ou 2
