Another Elvis thread-but the topic of this thread is different. Its not about comparing him to another artist (that would be redundant), but about comparing his version of a song to another singer's version.
I like Elvis's version of my way much better.
Some could argue Elvis simply copied and covered Sinatra's music, but neither one of those guys wrote the song. Someone else wrote the song Sinatra made popular.
Elvis's singing in My Way was more soothing-his voice was deep and powerful yet it sounded very good in that song. Sinatra sang it very monotonous, with less emotion and feeling than Elvis. There's a reason he's called the King! Here is a comparison of both versions-the first one contains footage of Elvis's last concert. The instrumentation is nicer better in Elvis's verison.
