Addressing Clarke's commentary, why did vegetation have to be mature at creation?

Is this a trick question?

So Adam and the animals could eat when they came on the scene?

Surely God had enough time to grow plants from seed.

That wasn't His plan.

Anyone can plant seeds: but God did it His way.

Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

Was God not able to wait a few weeks before creating man?

If He wanted to.

But He took His time (He could have done it all in the blink of an eye) so as to use it as a template for the workweek.

Exodus 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Sounds like special pleading to me.

I assume you would not accuse Joe of deception, if he was wearing a mess-up watch, but said he bought it brand new ten years ago.

So why would educatees accuse God of deception if they are looking at an earth that has been getting dents and scratches and cracks and pits for just over 6000 years?

I would not accuse Joe of deception if he had a watch that he bought new ten years ago, but now it had ten year's worth of scratches and cracks and pits.

But if he said it was brand new ten years ago, and it had 100 years worth of scratches, I'd ask what was going on.
