My testimony
Hey here's my testimony.:
My parents were living in Victoria B.C. when my mother was pregnant. At 8 months into the pregnancy my parents won a trip for 2 on a cruise ship around the british isles where my mom was born. While the ship was in the port of Newport/Cardiff my mother fell down a flight of stairs on the ship. I was born 15 minutes after the fall onboard the ship. I beleive that it was only because of Angels that I was able to survive because the fall that my mother took was right on top of her stomach when she Landed at the bottom of the stairs.
I was born with Cerebral Palsy(CP) which is a brain disorder resulting from lack of oxygen to the brain at birth or a hit on the head during or just after birth. Although this wasn't diagnosed untill I was 7 years old.
When I was 7 I went down to Vancouver,B.C.'s Childrens's hospital to figure out why I couldn't even crawl at 7 years old. They diagnosed my CP then and said that I needed surgery to releive the water on the brain from 3 of the 4 blood vessels on the brains surface being damaged by the fall and resulting CP.
After I had the surgery to put a shunt into my head to releive the water on the brain I started into physiotherepy. I was told by the doctor that if the CP hadn't been found within 6 months of when it had I would have been in a wheel chair for the rest of my life. After about 6 months of physio I was able to walk and joined the Cerebral palsy sports association. I earned by the grace of God a few medals from international competitions that took me to 17 different countries in the world. I left the sports association in 1994.
I joined up with the Boy Scouts and was able to acheive a high standing with the scout troop I was with. I also joined up with the christian kid's club AWANA in 1987. I spent 6 years as a clubber memorizing verses in the books but never really knew God or what he had done for me. I became a leader in the awana 13 years ago this year and have since completed all 10 of the clubbers books and have earned the higest award in the awana,The Citation plaque.
In 1991 I became the head of the phoning committee for my church's youth group. On October 4,1991 the youth group was hosting a bible college choir out at the local bible camp. After they put on a show for our chapel time I went up to talk to one of the ladies in the choir. I accepted Christ as saviour that night in the dining hall of the bible camp. I have since gone on to work for 2 years in that same dining hall for the summer camps. I have learned alot through the different bible studies that I have done not only through the church but through awana as well. I have worked on staff at 5 different bible camps,4 for Canadian sunday school mission camps and 1 for the AWANA Scholorship camp. I love working with the kids and find it rewarding that God has put me in the ministry to work with kids. I am now a dirctor of the grade 3/4 Truth and training AWANA club at my church. I am hoping that God will use me for many more things in the future. My CF name come s from a bible study that I did through the AWANA. Jehovah nissi mean God is my banner. I tried to do alexander's nissi is christ but it wouldn't fit so I shortened it to alexander nissi.
