Hi everyone!
I just wanted to say it's genuinely freshing to have a message board where I can openly talk about my faith!
Here is my testimony/ how I became a Christian.
I was raised in a Christian home and attended a baptist church for most of my life. At the age of six, I made the decision on my own to accept Christ and get baptized.
When I hit middle school and high school, I quickly found out that the people who claimed to be my friends really weren't ( and this included some family members like cousins). High school was really bad and I was verbally bullied every day. People would say I was ugly, worthless, stupid, Racial slurs ( I am black) and that I would never do anything with me life. I had a teacher even make fun of me in class and basically say I was stupid and wouldn't amount to anything. The only reason I wasn't physically bullied was because I was a big kid, just shy and allowed people walk all over me.
Anyway, I feel into deep depression and thought about ending my life. I was angry with God because I didn't understand why I had to struggle and deal with bullying. One day I had the knife and I was going to end my life. But I just felt the presence of God and him telling me he had more for my life. After that, I just started to draw closer to God and reach the word more. Eventually, I got my confidence back and realized I was more than what those people who bullied me said I was.
I later told my parents and got consuling. I eventually wrote a speech in front of about 1500 people in my church. The reponse it received was crazy. So many people dealing with depression. Just being able to share my experiences with others and help them meet Christ for themselves was incredible.
Since high school ( I am 27) , I graduated college, had incredible experiences, traveled a lot, and work jobs I like! I still struggle with depression some days and other issues, but God has done so many great things in my life!
I am active in my church ( non demonational) and do my part to share the love of Christ! That's my testimony in a nut shell though there is more I could share ha.
