Yes.

Plato popularized a non-literal reading of the Bible long before modern evolution came out.
He did? What source are you drawing from in order to suggest this, AV?
But I also believe evolution -- (in seed form) -- was around in Old Testament times as well.
Sources?
I even think Solomon studied it; and concluded it bogus.
Sources?
And when Satan's tares started wilting, Darwin came around and watered them.

Maybe. Maybe not.

So did Origen of Alexandria, Thomas Aquinas, and a host of Jewish Rabbis and leaders, none of whom ever once cited evolution as the reason for their interpretations.

I don't know about Thomas Aquinas, et alii, but Peter S Ruckman referred to Origen as a "walking, barefoot, bas****".

Then we would expect to have some record of people from those times citing evolution to justify their non-literal translations, shouldn't we?

Do you expect to see a record of their addresses as well?

Or is this just a version of history that you've imagined?

Not proud of your academic roots, are you?

Good.

Good.
So you have no sources or citations and what you posted was just your own made up version of history. Unfortunately, rather than admit it you instead resorted to personal attacks.

If that's all you have, no wonder you kept dodging the point.

There are no Jewish authors I love.
Really? Well, that's surprising, but Carl Sagan will remain on my list, nevertheless.
".............." Yes, Yes. That makes sense. Now if you had written "..............." then I would be confused.

Y'know, you remind of Nihilist Virus, just a lighter version.

My answer to his question is:

If there's some advantage you can glean from segmenting the earth into geological columns, then by all means do so.

And may God help you do it.

Just don't get carried away and end up contradicting the Bible.
When the Earth itSelf contradicts Genesis, I have no choice but to go with the Earth, as Created by God is showing us.

If there was an "author I loved" (a category I don't feel any need to populate)it would be Asimov, but like Sagan he was an atheist, not Jewish.

I recall that poster, but I have a hard enough time keeping track of the personality traits, personal stories, and foibles of the posters I interact with regularly.

I've got fuel to burn, got roads to drive.

Who said I was referring to fiction?

I don't.
I've got fuel to burn, got roads to drive.

That's fine. I need to get back to my reading of Leonard Susskind. Have a nice, non-Jewish day!

He did? What source are you drawing from in order to suggest this, AV?

Things to Come, by J Dwight Pentecost

Jeremiah 2:27 Saying to a stock, Thou art my father; and to a stone, Thou hast brought me forth: for they have turned their back unto me, and not their face: but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us.

Ecclesiastes 7:29 Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.

(Notice how prescient evolution is referred to as an "invention" -- not a "discovery" as academia teaches today?

I beg your pardon?

I believe the name of the book is Manuscript Evidence, by Peter S Ruckman.

ok. Any idea what page of that book his reference is on?
