Your idolatry of the KJB is noted.

I'll bet you think the U.S. Constitution is our idol as well, don't you? ;)

I mean ... after all ... I take it literally.

And the phone book???

Now THERE'S an idol of mass worship!

No, but I think that your insistence on holding the King James Bible above any and all translations, including the actual original Bibles to such a degree that you intentionally ignore what the others say, is idolatry.

I can't, for the life of me, understand why an evolutionist would say NO.

Other than to save face.
Some of us have explained it to you several times (non-literal readings of Genesis 1 predate evolution by a long time) and you haven't responded.

You should see what I do with the phone book!

When a new redacted phone book comes out, with a person's new number in it, and someone tries to tell me I should be using the old number, I tell them:

Where the new number disagrees with the old number, the old number can take a hike.

And that's entirely a you problem, and a very sad one.

I'd like to see you answer Warden's question. As you said, its a good question.

My answer to his question is:

If there's some advantage you can glean from segmenting the earth into geological columns, then by all means do so.

And may God help you do it.

Just don't get carried away and end up contradicting the Bible.

I don't know about that, AV. But at the same time, I can honestly say that I hold Genesis 1 as Prophetic in nature, whether I take it in a figurative or literal way.
For me, it's all about the Mystical aspect of experiencing God with in His own Creation.

Nice.

What is it in Swahili? a dance?

If it's made to say anything other than what the KJB says it is, it can take a hike.
Actually, that would be closer to the original intent of the work than a literal reading of an English translation. I would suspect that there are, or have, been, other cultures which celebrate divine creation through dance. It's an interesting thought.

Yes.

Plato popularized a non-literal reading of the Bible long before modern evolution came out.

But I also believe evolution -- (in seed form) -- was around in Old Testament times as well.

I even think Solomon studied it; and concluded it bogus.

And when Satan's tares started wilting, Darwin came around and watered them.

Is that why "heaven" is considered plural in Genesis 1:1?

The only way academia can make it plural is to change it from English to Hebrew, so they can claim the Bible is wrong.

Yes, that's true. The divine in it's many forms are celebrated in dance. For the last 40 years I've participate in what's called "Dance of Universal Peace" where we celebrate through dance the sacred scriptures of many of the world traditions.

Yes.

Plato popularized a non-literal reading of the Bible long before modern evolution came out.
So did Origen of Alexandria, Thomas Aquinas, and a host of Jewish Rabbis and leaders, none of whom ever once cited evolution as the reason for their interpretations.

But I also believe evolution -- (in seed form) -- was around in Old Testament times as well.

I even think Solomon studied it; and concluded it bogus.

And when Satan's tares started wilting, Darwin came around and watered them.
Then we would expect to have some record of people from those times citing evolution to justify their non-literal translations, shouldn't we?

Or is this just a version of history that you've imagined?
