Simple, just use the perfect English meaning of the bible. Their clothes and shoes are not made out of wax. Quick, some physicist acclaim me!
Deutronomy 29:5: And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not
waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot.
We must take the whole chapter in context, let's read the next verse:
Deuteronomy 29:6: Ye have not eaten bread, neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink: that ye might know that I am the LORD your God.
We know they ate mana. This means that God
preserved their clothing so it did not become "old".
Here are some more verses with "waxed":
Genesis 18:12: Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am
waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?
Genesis 19:13:
For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is
waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it.
Genesis 26:13:
And the man
waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great:
Exodus 1:7:
And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and
waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.
I can give numerous other verses. "Waxed" simply means "made". In Deutronomy 29:5, God is saying that in the 40 years that God has led them, he has not made their clothes "old" and has fed them with mana.
