• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am 16 years old and I suffer from depression. Most of the time, I put on a fake smile to hide my sadness from people because they tend to judge. Years of judgment and torture from my family left me depressed, and on the edge of anorexia. I got down to the stage where I was cutting myself more than I was eating. Starting out with self injury, I guess I really didn't think it through. I started on my arms, and it moved to my legs when I realized that I couldn't hide cuts and scars on my arms too easily. To this day, my family still hasn't noticed the cuts or scars (even though I don't go to great lengths to try and hide them).

That is my story in short form. I felt that I needed to put it out there. I needed to get all this off my chest, and there is nobody I can talk to about it.

Wow, Sarag. Who in your family is saying these things? Is it siblings?

Do you go to church? I'm wondering if you'd feel comfortable talking to someone at church, like the pastor. Maybe they could counsel you and your family members so that you can sort out your conflicts.

Remember that Jesus loves you and so do I. You are very precious in the sight of God, Sarag.

its actually my siblings and my father. i never see my mother, so she doesn't bother me. i don't feel comfortable talking to anyone from my church about my family issues, mostly because i cant get my dad to go to church.

summary of my parents can be found in the caregiver/family support sub-forum under the title of "My Parents..."

I really think you should get professional help by any means necessary.

I wish I could, but then again, I'm kind of glad I can't. If I do, my family will still hate me and on top of that, they will think I am completely nuts. I like to think that if I can get through this, I will be a stronger person. I don't need professional help, only the prayers and encouragement of my fellow Christians. May God bless you all! :)
