If you believe that the universe has always been running under the same set of laws, I challenge you to describe to me a hypothetical planet in existence today where people routinely live to be 600-900 years old, and tell me how they live that long under current conditions.

This is begging the question. Rather than proving that your claim is true, you are asking us to prove our claim true under the assumption that your is true, and then (I assume, as you haven't done it yet) using failure to do so as evidence of both your claim's truth and contrary claims' falsehood.

Also, if we take those ages to be true, Noah lived alongside Abraham for a few decades and his son Shem died a few decades AFTER Abraham.

Simple answer is, the past had the same state as nobody lived that long (without magic involved), but of course that is unacceptable to you, so applying your boolean thingy the result is Goddidit as usual...;)

Of course there will be those who deny that anyone ever did live 600-900 years.
They'll lost the challenge if they do.

Of course, if that's their goal to do so, then that's their prerogative.

This is begging the question.
Then beg me an answer please.

I didn't know that about Noah; but I do know that Shem lived right up to the time of Jacob ... providing an eyewitness testimony of the Flood, while other nations were making stories up.

Well the thing with begging the question is that lack of an answer is meaningless. And I cannot explain long ages under the conditions of Earth 6k years ago, unless you're willing to accept that viruses and cancer weren't a thing until after the flood. Would also explain why the life expectancy fell 90% in like two generations.

What I want to show by this challenge is that it can't be done.

An unwillingness to even try is an added bonus.

I doubt it will stop some people from challenging dad and I to come up with evidence of a DSP, but an unwillingness to do so yourself ... even under hypothetical conditions ... is worse.

In short, this challenge can't be met, and I submit that proves our point that things were different back then.

Not to me it isn't.

It speaks volumes to me.

Earth can take a hike.

I want a hypothetical planet with people on it just like us, living to be 600-900 years under current cosmic conditions.

If I could add another thought from another viewpoint: If I was writing Genesis, with the intention of putting the whole story over on you, why would I arbitrarily pick ages that long knowing it would just be one more thing questioned. That wouldn’t make sense… the only thing that makes sense is that it is true.

The only reason why it can't be done is because you assert that it was different back then, and people lived that long. Its a pointless challenge but as usual, it would provide loads of entertainment lolzzz. Lets watch it play out :)

Okay, chief ... then for the purposes of this thread, I'll agree with you: it was the same back then.

Uniformitarianism rules.

Now let's see you do it.

If it was the same the state back then, and that is my position, nobody lived that long (without magic) as it is impossible without Goddidit

What bluff? I'm just stating things as it is,....without invoking the realm of magic ;)
Magic can take a hike.

If you want, I'll even play the part of an atheist in this thread and assume no miracles, no divine intervention ... no nothing.

Just the universe running along as it does now.

Now will you take the challenge and tell me how these guys can live that long under same-earth conditions?

It's impossible as you know, so really, what the point? Nobody can live that long, you are just asserting that they did. The only way possible is .....Goddidit and that is presuming that it went down according to your book. that is what LutheranGuy123 ment by begging the question. You assert without proving that people did live that long. That is the point that non literalist/Atheist contest. But its all good. I'm interested in how this play out as I told ya :)

Seeing the historical accuracy in so many areas that the bible touches on, it would seem the burden of proof is on the ones challenging the Bible's claim in this instance.

I agree with you, crossnote; but for the purpose of this thread, I'd like to leave the Bible out of it and call some bluffs.

For the purposes of this thread:
  1. uniformitarianism rules
  2. nature did everything
  3. no miracles, no magic
  4. just plain science and nature
And I submit that, under those conditions, it can't even be hypothetically demonstrated ... let alone tested.
