My power supply says that it has "noise killer". Anyone know what that is exactly? Does it just mean it is supposed to be quieter? Or is it supposed to change speed on its own according to temperature?

I went to the forton website and couldnt find anything on the subject.

It is a forton (fsp) psu.

(edit) It has a single 120mm fan.

It may be talking about electrical noise

Most people dont know that the DC you get from the power supply is not constant (like a battery), but has AC ripple (noise) now a good power supply will have very little noise on the DC lines, including when the load (demand) changes.

So a noise filter may be talking about the filtering there using to control the electrical noise(good thing) as exisive noise can cause crashes & other computer problems.

Most aftermarket cpu coolers are quieter than your stock one.
Also most mobo's have an option to turn down the rpm speed of the cpu fan.

A program called "speedfan" may do just that for you if your mobo driver disk didnt come with the software to do so.
