  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Anger

As I sit here and think about all that is going on,
I can't help but feel the anger boil up inside,
Why do we have to do this now,
Why do we have to be the "good" guy all the time?

"Just call on us," we seem to say,
"Call big brother we will save the day,"
I don't want you to call on us,
Big brother will not save you every time.

I hate it that our men have to die,
It kills me to think that people have to wait,
I have to wait,
Can't we find peace?

Peace, what a deceiving word,
We use it in so many ways,
We say "Peace to you," when we leave church,
But then go home and battle this plaugue.

Hate causes war, causes anger,
Why do we have to do this now,
I can't seem to understand,
All I held dear is stripped away to make room for anger and fear.

The fear in me subsides

I walk around and see, that many here Love me. I cannot help but see, That all they want for me is the best, "Hey there, chin up, it is going to be ok," They say to me, "We love you, and we hate that you are sad."

I embrace these words, they are like A balm for my wounded soul I don't care now that we do not have peace, For I have found it here. There are so many out there that do not have the support I do.

I go from here feeling refreshed and renewed, Alive when I feel at the end, Because you are here telling me, "Move on my friend, move on!" You are my strength when I cannot do it alone.

I thank you friends for helping me see, There is more in me then hate and anger, Sorrow and defeat. I am a mighty warrior, Here to serve a mighty king, I lift my chin up high.

I say "Thank you all, you are my friends." I lift my chin up high so that I can go on, Fighting another day, for another friend, If you are hurt or angry, Call on me as I have called on you.

Hope

"Do not be discouraged," He says to me,
"Find peace in me."
These are words spoken to my heart,
By the one person that can bring me hope.

I often wonder why He would choose me,
I am but a young girl who doesn't ever say much,
But He did, He choose me for a purpose,
Maybe it was by chance that He lifted me up.

I don't think that it was,
I needed a hope, a savior,
He needed a friend, a lover.
He is the lover of my soul, my one delight.

I am His bride and He, my groom,
We are both nervous, but I do not fear Him,
I gladly take his hand and walk by his side,
As He leads me to His home, our home.

I have found hope with Him,
My savior and friend,
Lover and provider,
Thank you Jesus for coming after me.

Awe

"This sky is so... AWESOME! It is so huge with so many stars each competing for a spot to shine. Every once in a while, as I scan this vast array of the stars I can see small distant clusters of them, it is so amazing to see." Taken from a journal entry dated July 29, 2002.

AWE

As I sit here tonight I am in awe of your majesty,
You are the awesome creator of the vastness I see,
You gave us these stars to that we can truly know that you love us,
I thank you Lord for giving me the eyes to see.

In awe I sit and look up,
You painted a tapestry up in the sky for me,
The canvas that you used is a black as ebony and as wonderful as you,
The stars are wonderful tonight.

I sit here in awe that you gave me this night,
Though I am tired and worn,
Smelly and gross, you gave me the eyes to see,
This beauty you call the night sky.

Free

I am free now
free from hate
free from pain
free from anger

I am free now
because you loved me
because you cared for me
because you are there for me

I am free now
you have called me home
you have dressed me in white
you have laid down your life

I am free now
free to help
free to give
free to love

I am free now
because you died for me
because you are God's Son
because you set me free.

Sorry to break the line of positive reviews here ...

Though venting is great, and there is certainly a place for it, and I wholehartedly support your need for emotional outpouring, none of these poems really display any skills as far as the application of poetic devices.

Please understand that I am not attacking you in anyway.

The rhymes used tend to be forced and the images, where they exist at all, are a little too contrived.

Rythm seems OK for the most part though ...
I do hope we will see more though.

You have been published?
Really?

That is really great news; an I am not being sarcastic either.
Getting published is very very hard.
I sincerely hope to hear that you have many more published.

Would you mind mentioning which was published and where?

I had a few things published, back when I was in High School actually; mostly drawings, they were for a christian magazine. I was published in 2 issues; that was a really good feeling. I can't remember the name of the magazine, but it was something of a dubious publication with a readership muh smaller than my skill at the time; so I guess it doen't really count.

I havn't tried for it lately though; I simply don't believe that my works are at a stage where I think they should be published.

But then I am a perfectionist.

Poetry.com?

I hardy suspect that counts as legitimate 'publishing' unless your poem has been published to their anathology or somesuch volume.

I can put up a webpage with the most utter tripe; it would be on the net; published as it were, even to a dowloadable PDF file and allsorts. However that wouldn't qualify that work as being published.

Well; good luck with your poetry in any case.
And I shall assume that by 'published' you mean in a bound paper-based medium.
