My Make a Story 3

[Mankin]

Shinji snapped his fingers, "My mother died during childbirth. Luckily the physician managed to save me. My father lives in Germany. As for if he's still alive, I wouldn't know. I don't talk to him anymore. I have an older brother who lives here. I go to visit him from time to time. He has his own small farm that he and his wife maintain. He's a very cheerful guy but he has a vicious temper. He tells me often that I'm more like my mother. She was funny but often reserved and easily depressed."

 

[searchingsoul]

"I'm sorry to hear that... Say, If you've got a relative in the area, then why were you going to stay somewhere else? Couldn't you have just visited him? Or were you worried that something like what just happened would happen to him?" Kyuui asked.

 

[Mankin]

"Yeah that's definitely one part of it." Shinji laughed. "The other is that we simply irritate each other too much. If we spend too much time with each other, we really start to get on each others nerves. It's been an issue ever since we were kids. Conflicting personalities eh?"

"I could probably ask the same of you since you decided to live with wolves," Shinji said.

 

[searchingsoul]

"I wouldn't say that... I don't really live with them, I just spend most of my time with them. I still go home to sleep. The wolves are my best friends. Ever since I was just a little girl, I was always interested in them. From the stories, I was scared of them, but as I learned more about them, I learned to love them. During college, I loved them so much that I ended up getting a job as a wild life park ranger. That's all." Kyuui said passionately, while having an animated face to match.

 

[Mankin]

"That's nice to have a passion in life. It brings much hapiness in life. I used to be a bit of a cat enthusiast, both wild and domestic. I truly love cats. They just remind me so much of humans with their mood swings and independant spirit. Unfortunatley I couldn't take my cats with me when I joined the mercenary group."

Shinji sighed, "I never should have joined that group. But I was poor, needed some cash, so yeah." Shinji felt his eyes start to grow heavy. His head slowly bowed down until it lightly touched the top of Kyuui's head. He snapped back awake. "Ah crud, I almost feel asleep again. Eh, I've always been big on cat naps."

Kyuui quirked an eyebrow. She blushed when his head dropped on her. "Aren't cat naps sort of dangerous if you're 'on the run'?"

 

[Mankin]

"Well I guess you could say that. However since I'm surrounded by two wolves and a strong lovely lady, I'm not worried."

Shinji cracked his neck and looked outside. "Looks like the sun's starting to rise."

Kyuui looked away from him so that he could only see her back. She didn't want to know that she was blushing deeply from his complement of her. However, she had enough sass in her to say "Yeah? Well I wouldn't count yourself wholly protected just by that. In general, a man is always stronger than the woman, and humans have developed traps for animals like wolves. No offence, guys, but the reason for national parks is to preserve endangered species, including wolves! Wolves were killed and hunted sometimes because they were mean and dangerous to us, but also because of their fur and when wolves hunted deer and other big game that left less for the humans. Humanity is the most greedy of all Creation, you know..." Now, having herself under control, Kyuui turned around again to face him and said "So don't go and get too comfortable, 'else it could mean your death!"

[Mankin]

"I don't think anyone can set any wolf traps in here. I understand what you're trying to say though. You want me to be your knight in shining armor right?" Shinji laughed. He mumbled an apology between chuckles. "I know firsthand how greedy men can be. I've seen entire villages leveled just to gain a small fortune."

"Well looks like the sun is up. We should probably get going." Shinji stood up and streched his limbs.

 

[searchingsoul]

"Knight in shining armor!? Don't make me laugh! If I wanted that, then I would have been married already!" Kyuui exclaimed.

"So where do you suggest we go? Those men might be searching the town, or other towns nearby... Or do you just wanna 'wing it'?" Kyuui asked. That last bit was meant sarcastically on her part.

She looked at the two wolves then. Alex was sniffing around at the entrance for any danger scent. She walked over to him and whispered in his ear "You should probably go back to the den, attend to your wife. Leave Sen to me. You can send someone else if you worry too much..." Understanding, he trotted off in a slightly different course than that of the den, but Kyuui supposed that was to throw off his scent, and prevent any obvious trail back.

 

[Mankin]

"I suggest we make our way back to the wolves's cave. The mercenaries won't think to look there. From there, we'll decide what to do," Shinji declared.

He gathered Sen under his arm. "I do need to find that certain doctor but that can wait. I've got more important things to worry about, like making sure you and Sen are safe from those men."

"Yes I expected that Kyuui. You must have quite a few suitors," Shinji said, responding to Kyuui's comment about being unmarried.

"Alright, let's go. I'll lead the way." Kyuui said. I sure wish he would stop saying things like that! So embarrassing. Kyuui glared at him as they walked. She wouldn't fall for him so easily. No sir, not, no way.

 

[meowmix]

Sen's Bright Green eyes opened at the break of dawn, It was peaceful, Until she heard the jabbering of her friends. Good thing for Sen she enjoyed listening to people talk, or err, Argue. Laughing in her mind, she tucked her paws in, and stared at Kyuui and Shinji. Listening. She didn't understand emotions as much as humans, so she thought what they were doing was just any day normal talking.

Later Shinji picked her up, and Tucked her under his arms.
"Where are we going now!?" Sen squeaked.

"Back to the Den. Alex already went ahead of us." Kyuui answered.

 

[Mankin]

"You didn't answer my question Kyuui," Shinji declared in a teasing tone. "Ah well, have it your way."

Shinji breathed in the air and let a sigh. The slits of light shining through the trees illuminated the forest floor, revealing all manner of beautiful flowers and plants. However, he knew he could not afford to spend time looking at the scenary so he followed Kyuui through the woods, on their way to the den.

He turned towards Sen. "Glad to have you back Sen. When you see men like that in the future, bite first, ask questions later."

 

[meowmix]

Sen Blinked in amusement. "should I bite Hard?!"

 

[searchingsoul]

At that time, they came out of the thicket and upon the den. "Well, we're here again... So what now, Mr. Idea Man? We can't exactly leech off the wolves..." Kyuui asked sarcastically.

 

[Mankin]

Shinji scratched his head. "Yes I know that. Well, I say we head over to that town south of here. It's about ten miles away. We'll have to travel at night through the woods just to play it safe. If we're in an area with people, even those mercenaries wouldn't be dumb enough to attack us there. We'll leave Sen here with her family." Shinji shrugged, "It isn't the best of plans, but it's all I've got." He leaned on Kyuui's shoulder. "Unless of course you have been blessed with some realization of what we should do. If that's the case, I'm all ears."

 

[searchingsoul]

"Well, traveling at night would seriously be a drawback. I think it'd be ok if we just stayed away from the main roads." Kyuui said, pushing Shinji's head off her shoulder. "And I would suggest that if you want to stay in one piece, you shouldn't act so familiar with me. And since Sen is what she is, I think it would be better to ask her if she wants to stay or go. If she wants to stay, that's fine, but if she wants to go, I'll hear no complaining from you, alright?"

Kyuui thought a little on what she would do. "What I would do would depend on what your objective is. Of course right now I'm beginning to think I should learn more about the healing arts. Plus I would need, if we are going on a long journey, to go back to my place and pack the things we'll need. I can only assume you don't have a boat load of cash on you, since you have been traveling awhile. But I think the first thing we should do is get to my place."

Her mind was already going through several lists; things to do before leaving, things to pack, who might be a good medical teacher, how much money they'd need, how much food to take, and other lists. Kyuui had never been exactly a light packer, but she thought this time might be easier because she'd need to carry everything she took for hours at a time.

 

[Mankin]

Shinji held up his hands. "Okay, okay, Sen can come if she wants."

He scratched his chin. "Like I said before I need to hunt down that Doctor who implanted that monster inside of me. I'm not really sure where he is so I plan to pick up information in the towns we pass from the various dregs of society."

"Sounds like a good idea to stop by your parent's house. I've never been the best at preparation, but I do consider myself pretty good at winging it. I'll follow you there." He looked down at his dirty clothes. "I could use a change of clothes. This yukata is starting to smell..bad."
