I just wanted to let you all know about some games that I've played that's neither controversal or a pop culture icon. They are some of the best work that has had little recognition due ether to bad publicity or overtaken by some other big game like Final Fantasy or Grand Theft Auto.

First of all is Playstation. So many games appeared on the original PSX that many didn't even get noticed! But that's how is goes I guess. But here are some games that you might want to try out

Legend of Legaia

I know its pretty well known but I do love this game and it wasn't as well know as Final Fantasy. The story is simple but its well threaded so it can hold your attention. I love the battle system since its somewhat a simplifed Street Fighter and I thought that was cool.

Castlvania Symphony of The Night

Not exactly very 'Christian' in nature but I thought it was an excellent RPG and I thought it fit well with the theme 'Evil vs. Evil' such as upcoming movie "Cronicals of Riddick"

Chocobo Racing

Not as well know as Gran Turismo this little gem is a fun game to play but can be annoying at times. It comes along with a little Final Fantasy like story as you beat tracks to unfold a cute but simple story. It even has a little bit of RPG in it as you can customize your racers after you've finished the game.

Heart of Darkness

Basically a movie that you play heart of darkness is difficult to control but the reward of unraveling the movie farther is a big motivator

Street Fighter Pocket Fighter

It's a cutsyfied version of Street Fighter and is a lot easier to play than the original version but fun to play.

Now Playstation 2. This system has a lot of life in it yet even though its concidered obsolete by most of the market and some extreme gamers. Its cool, I love it, and anyone who has one would probably agree with me it was a great choice in buying it.

Okage The Shadow King

A little game thats not too well known its an RPG about a boy who's shadow gets possesed by an ancient King who means to destroy the world. Although it sounds grusome its acually a comedic game and even the whole take over the world theme is made fun of. The boy has to travel the world to stop others from claiming to be the Shadow King and ends up savings towns, villages, and eventually the world.

Rygar

If you loved Devil May Cry you can try this 'cleaner' game. Based on a popular classic Rygar is put into a 3D world where a lovely princess is capured and Rygar has to go save her. Nope, no good story here but the game play is great. My only complaint it that there isn't enough to fight.

Well thats my list. I don't have anything on Game Cube or Xbox thats not popular so you pretty much know how good they all are! lol But tell me what you think?

I remember Legend of Legaia (I even had the game for about a week), and Chocobo Racing.

For PSX:
Einhänder - Square's attempt to make a game like R-Type. Really great, but after a little initial buzz, everyone just started saying that Square should stick to RPG's. Personally I love Einhänder. It's challenging, the graphics are awesome, the weapon customizations rock, and it's got a simple enough storyline that it's possible for anyone to keep up with it.

For PS2:
Kinetica - Once again, a game that seemed to have a lot of publicity at the beginning, and then it fell off again. Possibly because it was one of the first games to come out for the PS2. I love this game as well. Excellent graphics, secret characters, and the futuristic racing arenas were very well designed.

I think the most underrated system of all time was the Dreamcast. It had probably the most powerful 2D graphics engine in the new set of higher-end consoles that came out a few years ago (which makes games like Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Capcom look like they do in the arcades), but because American gamers want 3D, the system died over here. The few games for Dreamcast that did come out in 3D were good (notably the Sonic Adventure games), but even those have been rereleased for Gamecube in some capacity because Sega switched to a software-only company. Plus, the Dreamcast has the ability to boot emulators for other game systems, so its possible to resurrect the NES, SNES, Game Boy, Sega Master System/Game Gear, and a plethora of other systems and use various other nifty utilities like MP3 players.

You imply that FF and GTA are bad games because they had marketing. Marketing doesn't make a game good, but you can't say "well that game shipped truckloads of units because it was hyped".

Street Fighter Pocket Fighter is crazy though :D. That definitely deserves it spot on your list on top games.

I apoligize if i appear to imply ff n gta to be bad. I'm merely puttting games on the board which were great plays without the power of marketing behind it.

Ya lol enhandier was way cool. i rented it and was amazed by how much i enjoyed it and meant to purchase it. But like most ppl my attention went to the latest craze and i never got to say i owned it. Kenetica was very cool but once again my attention was so drawn to GT3 at the time it slipped through my grasp as well. I do have a dreamcast stored and come to think of it ima go down my basment and plug the ol thing back in! XD
