Short and sweet. I found Christ at 13 when I was with my grandma all the time. I love her dearly and wish she was here. A true christian she was indeed!!!!

My fathers side and my mothers side both have had a HUGE problem in alcoholism and drug use.

My father doesnt care, just continues on with no thought in mind. My mother did also... but she paid the price a year and a half ago and she is gone now. I was complete and destroyed in my mothers death.

I used to drink a bunch in my 19 to 22 years of life. And i mean alot. Yet I still studied and loved the Lord our God. Im 28 now.
God answered my prayers and now I have a big house, two boys and a daughter with the woman I have been with from the age of 15 years old.

I still drink. Not hard. Not bad. I used to put a bottle of whiskey down easy through out a day. Now im down to 3 shooters maybe 2 to 3 times a week. The Lord has helped me cut down by nearly 80%!! Thank God He even chose to give me the strength to come down. Even a sinner like me.

What am I missing?
Do I not pray enough? No I pray and cry out to Christ all the time!!!!!! In the shower. On my way to work. All the time.

I started taking Xanax after my mom died via panic attacks shortly after. I feared death, future, destruction, a cut off life, and a bad relationship with my children as they get older.

But I am in a good Church now. Helpful they are, loving, kind, and true.

I pray all the time for my sin too stop. I constantly try to renew my mind and ask for forgiveness of my sins. Guys im here cause I need your like minded input to help Renew My Mind. Love you guys, thank you.

As you know from cutting down on your drinking it took hard work and commitment.
Well it is the same with seeking to grow as a Christian, Paul used the illistration of an Olymoic athlete and of trained soldiers for a reason.
It takes work, commitment and effort to grow.

That said, start small, start using a daily bible reading notes and spend 10 to 15 minutes evry day reading a the bible, commentry notes and praying.
Talk to your wife about your leading a daily time of family worship doing a similar thing, with evry body doing some reading, commenting and praying.
Make a change to your leasure habits and start reading Christian books like Lee Strobels ' the Case for Christ' or read Chrisrtian blogs andwb sites, suggestions:-
Answers in genesis ( you don't have to be yec, it contains many usefull articles about the bible and Christianity )
Wintery Knight, ReasonableFaith, toughQuestionsanswered to name a few.

Christianity in some ways is like joining Alcoholics Anon, in that both require one to daily recommit oneself to it.

You seem to think a lot about alcohol. I do not think the alcohol is helping you. Even small amounts increase the risk of cancer. Large amounts of alcohol caused brain damage.

I met family at a restaurant and ordered a fish sandwich, fries and a glass of wine. It was fun being with family as I live alone. I learned what other family members have been doing. They were down here on vacation. Have not had alcohol in my house for years.

Your work, family, studies and church are more important than shooters.

I grew up with a alcoholic mother. And my father has drank all his life. It is kinda hard to not talk about it. I do not think about alcohol all the time.( Kinda weird assumption on your end considering ) It is just a very big deal to bring up on a personal level. I want to break the chains of the past generations and be more like Christ.
And yes I do agree the shooters do not help.
It is a battle but I am winning the fight slowly.
Thank you for your response. I will keep in mind what you said.

Yes I have. If it was not for Gods grace and Holy Spirit I would not be where I am today. He answers my prayers constantly and is always showing me answers to things I did not realize I even needed the answer to. Christ is coming back. I wanna worship Him for eternity. Thank you for your input! Very much appreciated friend
