I've considered posting this for a long time, but didn't.
I think I will now, here's an account of my modernist parish from my reversion story:
"Now the Parish at my parents town, that's a different story, don't get me wrong, I take [n]o delight in bashing that place, but I have to be honest. The Church building used to be cruciform-shaped (it's the same one I went to as a child) but it had burned down and had to be rebuilt. They rebuilt it in a round auditorium shape, and made it small, smaller than the parish hall in fact. And they set it off to the side of the hall, like an added appendage, an after-thought. The atmosphere of the building is akin to an office building or mall. There is almost no sacred art, and the pews, altar, pulpit, etc. have a smooth, shallow almost iPad-like feel to them, no depth or detail, at all, if you understand what I'm trying to describe here. The Mass in that parish is served with vague hymns, sung folk-music-style, with guitars and hyper-masculine banging on drums, the homilies are mostly vague, it is really hard pay attention to anything. Confession is only available on Saturdays before Mass. You have to wait for the priest to arrive, and than tell him that you need him to hear your confession, and you have do it quickly before Mass starts. Also, I hope this isn't gossip or back biting but, there is something seriously wrong with that town, (it's the same town I had been bullied in at School) I can't put my figure on it but there is something just messed up about that place. The only really good thing that can be said about the Liberal parish, is that it has a strong Portuguese community that is very strong and firm in the Traditional faith, I'm now attending Fatima Masses there. It's really nice to here the Portuguese Fatima hymns when we pray the Rosary, I feel like I'm riding into spiritual warfare when I hear them, if only we could have a Portuguese choir."
