  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That sound deceptive to me and possibly even malicious on God's part.
Let me ask you this:

If tomorrow God creates a loaf of raisin bread ex nihilo, would that be deceptive, since raisins are dried grapes?

In addition, I don't think it's fair to accuse God of deception, when He documented what He did, when He did it, where He did it, why He did it, what order He did it in, how long it took Him to do it, why it took Him that long, and who the eyewitnesses were.

If the scientific analysis of the age of the earth lined up with the scriptural account, it MIGHT provide at least the tiniest bit of credibility. He would know that going out of his way to make it exponentially different would lead many to dismiss at least a literal interpretation. In other words, God is doctoring the evidence that would support him.

I've heard several Christians say that the Devil is to account for the difference, but if the Devil has that kind of power, then how come all he does is open and close people's doors and flick the lights on and off when they aren't looking?

In addition, I don't think it's fair to accuse God of deception, when He documented what He did, when He did it, where He did it, why He did it, what order He did it in, how long it took Him to do it, why it took Him that long, and who the eyewitnesses were.

To those who don't believe, it's just a story like any other religion.

Why can't God speak to you/i/we/us/anyone?
If that happened, the natural flipside conclusion is that - by limiting its revelation only to one or specific individuals, and not to everyone simultaneously - the being is preferentially hiding things from others, and again makes it also unworthy of attention.

Again, that's quite an accusation.

God warned us to be careful in looking at His creation on the molecular level, as it could lead to wrong thinking.

In Paul's letter to the Colossians, Paul refers to evolution as "philosophy and vain deceit."

Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Those "rudiments of the world" sound like what academians call the Periodic Table of the Elements.

In his letter to Timothy, he compares evolution ("endless genealogies") to fables, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying, which takes faith -- not science.

1 Timothy 1:4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

His letter to the Romans is quite explicit, stating that calling oneself "wise," which is what Homo sapiens means, can lead to atheism.

Romans 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

God also tells us not to be ...

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Solomon, a well-educated man who had apes imported for study ...

1 Kings 10:22 For the king had at sea a navy of Tharshish with the navy of Hiram: once in three years came the navy of Tharshish, bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.

... concludes we didn't get here by evolution, but by a direct act of God ...

Ecclesiastes 7:29 Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.

... and refers to evolution as an "invention," not a discovery.

Calling God a deceiver is a loose term that academians like to use, not even knowing what they're talking about.

Even early concepts of evolution and molecules would not be a thing until the 1800s.

And scripture is what people refer to when they don't understand science

Correct.

That's why they were called "rudiments of the world."

As science progressed, and these things came more into focus, the Bible's warnings came with them.

This is why the Bible is called "quick" (or "alive").

It is as up-to-date today as It was yesteryear.

Nothing wrong with that, is there?

I don't need a degree in zoology to know to stay away from a rattlesnake.

Hey hey zoness

What is your religion?

Cheers

Hi there, I am a Neopagan. What that means for me personally has evolved a lot over the last ten years and this year has been going through a big transformation.

Including skyclad and something I'd probably get moderated for for just asking about?

I've never done any skylad rituals but plenty of solitary and group rituals over the years. I wish I still had as big of a group but as most of us take on new jobs in our various companies people keep moving away. :(

Do you guys clean up the area after your rituals?

We try to return the area to the state it was in before the ritual, but I'm worried about what you think it is we would clean up.

Usually they're in a house so sure, as a matter of cleaning. I mean, if I need set up a Satanic goat sacrificing orgy that could take months to organize let alone clean! But that sounds more like a Hollywood thing than something that actually happens.
