• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have been with a girl for a couple of weeks now, after i met her once, it was love on first sight. She lives 11 hours away with plane from the country i live in. I am 17, and she is 16. The thing is that, we really need to see eatch other again! I have been without a girl for a really long time, and this girl is the first one i have ever been so attached to. What should we do with this? i am really without any ideas on how we can make it work.

Thanks for all the answers, but this isn`t actually a faith related question tho :) :groupray:

Jacob sought to marry only Rachel, but ended up marrying both Leah and Rachel. We can only make plans, but what happens is in the hands of the Lord. If it's meant to be, then you will be able to endure being so far apart, until such a time when you can move closer. But for now, you probably need to get used to the idea of not meeting her in person very often, and explore other means of communicating. I'm sure there are several posters on this forum who have been in long distance relationships, and who might be able to provide advice.

My best wishes to the two of you.

Hold on, two weeks, you are 17 she is 16, don't you think you are rushing it a bit.

And you been without a girl for too long. You are 17. WOW things have sure changed since I was that age. Maybe I am too old to try and help you here, but you know moms they just love to give advice and especially grandmoms. Oh, mercy me.

Son, I say cool your heels, you got a lot of growing up to do. She has a lot of growing up to do.

If two weeks and you are ready to jump in with both feet, that must be something other than love.

Take advantage of the computer and learn about each other. Don't make promises you can't keep. Give each othr the freedom to date other people. If it is real it will wait and it will happen.

Being you didn't want Christian advice, I just gave you some good old fashion common sense advice. It will work everytime. I promise.

your both still very young....give it time to develope ,if it does..and if this is the person God has in mind for you then God will work out the details.Let God work it out in his way and timing. If it happens naturaly and easliy then it is meant to be....but note it may or may not be for a lifetime and just a season or a reason. If something is too complicated, hard to make happen and just doesn't happen for you...then it is not meant to be.
Keep these things in mind......God knows what is best for you.
You may have felt a first attraction but sometimes even that doesn't last.

I'm sure you're tired of hearing this, but you are very young, you have lots of time. Just continue to get to know each other over the computer, phone calls and get together when you can. I know right now it probably seems like forever until you can see each other, but patience is rewarded and the Lord will honor your commitment to being mature and seeking His will. Deep, abiding love takes time and the Lord will bless you with your heart's desire if you remain faithful to Him. God bless you guys.

Coming from a guy who is still kind of young..LOL

1) take your time.
2) get to know who YOU are first...
3) allow yourself to be removed from your safety "sphere".
4) try new things...HELATHY, good for your spirit things.
5) Make good choices by thinking about a situation and then thinking about it again..
remember life is nothing more then one big cause=effect remember that the choices you make right now can weigh heavily on what happens days months even years down the road in your life..
