Hey my boyfriend/girlfriend not a believer, shall i go out with him?
well many of today youth are breaking this word
[BIBLE]Do not be yoked together with unbelievers(2Cor 6:14)[/BIBLE].once we go against God word it is rebellion and rebellion is the same as witchcraft and stubborn set in as if of idolatry
[BIBLE]For rebellion is like the sin of divination,
and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. (1 Sam 15:23-24).[/BIBLE]
it may seem harmless but actually we are dealing with sin and it like playing with fire.
Fire is nice but if we play we might get burn.So please go back to God and:prayer: repentance and turn away from sin:amen:

So you think it good to be YOKED with a non believer?

You can be friends, you can be nice, you can present the gospel to them... but God was pretty darn clear... don't be YOKED.

Do you know what that word means?

It means not to be tied to them... if you are a boyfriend or girlfriend.. you are now tied to them... meaning there is exclusivity between you. If you are just friends, there is no exclusivity.

I think I will go with Jesus and obey a clear warning. Do NOT be YOKED with an unbeliever.

Yeah I find many non believers to be less self serving and self righteous actually.

That word reminds me of eggs. It's a silly word :3

Do you know what that word means?

No I do not nor do I care.

Yeah if I date someone I tend to wanna be exclusive with them. Is there like some three way you get in a christian relationship?

I think I will go with Jesus and obey a clear warning. Do NOT be YOKED with an unbeliever.

And I think I will go with what he said and share the gospel and love them. Go be self righteous if ya want. that's not for me. And don't you dare say that apparently the bible isn't for me or use any true christian bit.

Well of course.... what does that have to do with disobeying what Jesus Himself said?

That word reminds me of eggs. It's a silly word :3
Are you a follower of Jesus Christ? Do you know what a yoke is? Let me give you a hint. It has nothing to do with eggs. Better go study. Words mean things.

No I do not nor do I care.

Why don't you care? You have labeled yourself a christian. If you really are one, the Holy Spirit in you would convict you to care.

Yeah if I date someone I tend to wanna be exclusive with them. Is there like some three way you get in a christian relationship?
What? Jesus said not to be yoked with them. There is no 3 way here. Not sure where you got that from. Are you just here to play games?

And I think I will go with what he said and share the gospel and love them.
You do realize that you can share the gospel and love someone without dating them don't you? You can be their friend and share the gospel till the cows come home... just don't be yoked with them! (that means don't be exclusive with them as in DATING)

Go be self righteous if ya want.
What is self righteous about telling you what Jesus said?

that's not for me.
Apparently what is not for you is to get educated on what words mean when you don't know the definition. Apparently what is not for you is to know what JEsus said.
And don't you dare say that apparently the bible isn't for me or use any true christian bit.
Wouldn't dream of saying such a thing.. Once you learn the definition of the word we are talking about, maybe we can have a rational conversation. We are not talking about eggs.

If not for my wife dating me I probably would not be a Christian today and may have never confessed Jesus as my Lord and savior. She showed me what the love of Jesus is like and without her I know for sure I would still be going to hell.

I'm glad that she yoked herself with an unbeliever.

Of course God works all things for His pleasure... just telling ya what Jesus said...

By the way, you do not know for sure that you would still be going to hell... there is NO WAY for you to know that... if God did not use your wife and God wanted you His, He would have used another way.

You are blessed indeed. Does not mean we can throw what Jesus said out the window just because God blessed despite obedience.

God wants us to obey, not for himself but for what is BEST for us.

Would it have been best for your wife if she was yoked to you and you never came to Christ? I know to many marriages that are unequally yoked and they are hard marriages... it is hard to live a life with someone who does not share your faith.

That is why Jesus said not to be yoked with a non believer... it isn't what is best for a union.

That is all.

=Amber the Duskbringer;58744772]I thought the best was believing in Christ,
Well, if the best is believing Christ, why are you dismissing what he said NOT to do? Jesus said it, not me.... Do not be yoked with unbelievers. Take it up with Him..... after all, you profess to believe Him, but not in this case?
not going about rules and regulation with one's faith?
Ummmmmm Jesus is God. He said it not me. I don't make up the rules or regulations. Jesus said not to be yoked to unbelievers. I believe Him. Don't you?

He believes now, if not for his wife who knows.
Yes he believes now despite not following Jesus direction... the grace of God is endless but not to be abused.

To say God would have gone another way is to say that you can see the future and know what God will do.
The word of God says that we are chosen before the foundations of the world.... If God has chosen you as a gift to His Son, He will make sure that that is what happens. I have no idea what God is going to do... that is exactly my point about the other poster saying he knew "for sure" he would still be going to hell... there is no way to know that.

My point was, if God wants you, he will get you despite what we silly humans do.

=Amber the Duskbringer;58744831]So I guess his faith doesn't matter. Okies.

You guess who's faith doesn't matter?

Done here because siting rules and regulation is boring.

Then I guess you think Jesus is boring... He is the one who said it, not me.

Actually living the word of god rather than speaking it is more congruent to my faith.

You are actually correct. So I guess you will not encourage anyone else to be unequally yoked, right? If one chooses to not be unequally yoked, they are actually living the Word of God (capital G)

Peace be with you and your words :)

It isn't my words... it is JEsus' which always brings peace.

Yes, there is a way for me to know that. I am the one living my life. I know for sure that I would have not come to Christ if not for my wife.

Let me clarify, if not for a Christian woman who wanted to be with me in a romantic way I would have not come to Christ. It truly was the only way. If losing my 5 kids when their mom decided to be with another man instead of her boyfriend wasn't enough to put me on my knees, then there was nothing else that would have done so, but the love of a woman that wanted to be with me. God knew this as well and that is why I am one of His today.

Remember, we have free will.

Wow.... your God is small. Are you suggesting that God can be thwarted?

If God wants you, he will get you by any means He deems.

There simply is no way for you to know the future of yourself.

You don't have any idea what might happen to you tomorrow. So you cannot possibly say that you would never come to Christ without your wife.

I am sure you were quite certain that you would never be a follower of JEsus Christ prior to meeting your wife... you probably thought you would NEVER be a christian.

Ahhhhhhh, such is the irony.

Are you ignoring free will? Seems that you are. God could have tried to bring me to Him, but with free will i could keep denying Him as I was before I met her.

He may be a big God, but God does not force Himself on you.

Who are you to say that God wouldn't go through those means? Are you saying God doesn't work in mysterious ways? Seems to me you are trying to limit a all powerful being to fit your argument and yes the irony is stunning indeed ;)

He may be a big God, but God does not force Himself on you.

God is irresistible when he gets your attention.

Free will is an allusion of Man... we think so highly of ourselves... as if God could be thwarted.

Please start another thread if you want to talk about free will. This thread is about God's word when He tells us not to be unequally yoked.

I am glad it worked out for you.... for many, it doesn't and a disastrous road because they did not head God's warning.

Always dangerous to go into a romantic relationship thinking you can change them.

Hey listen... I am not the one who said it. God did.

I used to do illegal drugs and sell them. What happened to me? NOTHING.

But the word of God tells us that we are to obey the laws of our government.

Now that I am a follower of Jesus, I respect Him and His word and thank Him for showing much grace on me and keeping me from jail or worse death.

When Jesus says to obey the laws of my government, I do now because I love Him, respect what he says and want to live a holy life.

So why is it looked down upon when Jesus says that you should not be unequally yoked?

Are you saying God doesn't work in mysterious ways?

No, I am actually stating just the opposite... It is truly mysterious how God used her disobedience to produce His will for this mans life. How you come to your conclusions is beyond me.

I am relishing that God moved DESPITE disobedience.

Seems to me you have a reading comprehension problem. Can't help you out if you keep assuming and not actually address what I do say.

So why is it looked down upon when Jesus says that you should not be equally yoked?

If He is so irresistible, then why is not everyone saved before they die? It's because we have free will and you can say it's an illusion, but I know better than that. God does not force himself on anyone. That is what gives us our free will. We have the choice to obey, follow Him or not on both accounts.

Again, Jesus did not say it. Paul did. It's in 2 Corinthians 6:14.

I'm not looking down on it, that is your words. However, what I am saying is that sometimes people are disobedient, but how do we know that it isn't by design for them to do so?
