That's not how it works.I think the bible should be read keeping in mind that it is a book written for a 3 thousand year old nomadic tribal culture and in an ancient language few people understand today. The point of genesis is simply that YHWH created earth and everything in and to sustain earth. The writers, whether or not inspired by YHWH, needed to write with the knowledge of the time and not ahead of their time.
The word of God is for all ages.
1 Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
Hebrews 4:12a For the word of God is quick,
'Quick' means It is alive; meaning that, just as a person grows from childhood to adulthood, the Bible grows with the times: from ancient times until tomorrow -- and beyond.
It is just as applicable today, as It will be tomorrow.
