  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

One of my biggest pet peeves is? It is when the fire alarm goes off when there is no smoke. It is driving me nuts. I will be cooking in the middle of the night and nothing will be burning but just the smell sets off the alarm. I am not allowed to take apart my fire alarm, for it is against the rules in my apartment. I am trying to be very quiet and not disturb anybody while I'm cooking, but then this happens. I feel like taking a baseball bat and breaking the fire alarm.

Let me guess, they gave you an oven that either is fully on or off too? That's my apartment, set off the alarm at 1am lol.

When was the last time the fire alarm was taken apart and vacuumed out? If crud and tiny spider webs are allowed to build up in there, its sensitivity can increase to where almost anything can set it off. And yes, the unit does have to be taken apart for vacuuming; vacuuming only from the outside won't pull out all the nasties around the sensors. I do mine once a year, when I change the batteries. If you're in an apartment and the unit communicates with a main panel rather than standalone and battery-powered, you may have to ask the property manager to do the work.

I have never done that. But maybe I should. I never thought of that.

It is probably between the stove and the central air intake making it directly in the path for all cooking fumes. Can you move the fire alarm or disconnect that one and put up another further away from the stove...something closer to the bedroom where you need it to be anyway?
