My christian friend put this on her FB status today - and she said - "Especially at Christmas"

I have never heard of this before

Can someone interpret it for me, ie, what does it mean
and what is it really asking of God to do.

thank you

“Lord, I am willing
To receive what You give.
To lack what You withhold.
To relinquish what You take,
To suffer what You inflict,

To be what you require.

It sounds like she's just letting the Lord know that she's totally surrendering to the Lord's Will on her life including the difficult ones.

Sounds like a noble prayer to make but as others will say, "be careful what you wish for!"

"Especially at Christmas"
She's probably showing gratefulness for the Lord's birth or coming to this world to save the lost like her.

thanks for replying. I thought the prayer might have meant that. She recently finished an amazing course where she can help others in natural health healing. (natropath work) she has 11 amazing Godly children and I think about 40 grandhilcdren, an amazing, Godly, loving husband.

your friend is depressed suffering and needs help;

To lack what You withhold. (GOD does not withhold on the contrary)

To relinquish what You take, (GOD does not take he gives)

To suffer what You inflict, ( GOD does not inflict, something is happening with your friend, see with her)

in any case it is a twisted prayer.

Well, to welcome God to inflict her . . . being inflicted can have different meanings. Peter boasted how he would go to prison and death with Jesus, and how did that work?

So, I find I need to be careful about how much I am willing to go through with God. But once Paul got the message that Jesus' grace is sufficient, then was when he took "pleasure" (2 Corinthians 12:4-14) in his troubles which were for Jesus.

But if something is a consequence of not living God's way, we need to see this and seek real correction.

It is not asking God to do anything, on first read.
Rather, a good honest prayer, accepting God's Purpose,

perhaps like found in Scripture,
even Jesus' own prayer "Father, THY WILL BE DONE".....
while living in an exceedingly wicked evil sinful world.
