I became best friends with a girl I meet 5 years ago at work. Just recently she revealed that she had an abortion when she was 21. She works in the personnel department and she told me told that every time she sees a man or woman come in for orientation that was born in the year she had the abortion it REALLY messes with her. I never realized this, but once I sat down and thought about it how couldn't it mess with you?
Recently, there was a handsome man that was a new hire and she was supposed to conduct his orientation in our board room. She just couldn't stay there looking at him and she came and got me to complete the orientation for her which was basically going through the powerpoint slides. The poor boy was left puzzled as to why the switch. It even bothered me a little knowing that his DOB was the exact same year she had her abortion. It was like being reminded of it. What is the best way to help my friend cope? Has anyone heard of this type of regret happening to women who have had abortions?
