So doctors can tell evolution to take a hike and still be successful?
Sure - why shouldn´t they? They aren´t scientist nor researchers. They can be clueless about the way the methods they apply and rely on have been developed.
I´m not even sure if evolution theory was necessary in the development of this particular surgery. Seems to be more of a mechanical issue that had to be solved, or something.
I could deny gravitation theory and at the same time fix a bicycle. So what´s your point?

So how'd he pass his exams?

The biologist Francisco Ayala tells of creationist students who come up to him and say, "I'll write what you want me to write, but don't expect me to believe it." However, he goes on to say that, when they are confronted with the evidence for evolution, they find that they have no option but to believe it.

Francisco Ayala is no atheist, by the way.

Good thing my ophthalmologist wasn't in his class then: he would have broken the mold.

I encountered a (former) YEC on here, who was cursing his professors, because he had been confronted with the evidence for evolution, and now found that he had to believe it, even against his own will. He lost his faith as a result of the inner trauma.

The person he ought to have been cursing was not his professors, but his lying, or ill educated, or both, pastor.

Well it wasn't my ophthalmologist, I can tell you that.

His will, or God's will?

Paul warned about that sort of thing happening; more than once.

Maybe he knows something you don't?

I have to assume that if his faith was such that he would somehow have to give it up because he realized evolution was true that he didn't do enough "shopping in the marketplace of religious ideas".

When I was a believing Christian I was also happy with evolution.

But that's the hard part isn't it? "Belief", being divorced as it so often is from the ability to "ground proof" it, can be dealt harsh blows when other ideas come in and seem to challenge them.

The fact that so many different versions of "ultimate truth" seem to be out there for the picking is equally problematic from a logic standpoint, but certainly shouldn't be an impediment from a belief standpoint.

If a religious belief brings someone comfort and happiness and it doesn't harm anyone else, then certainly it is sad when that is lost to someone. But, if it brings some clarity or comfort to give up unfounded beliefs then it should be a celebration as well.

Because "kinds" isn't a thing.

Sure they are. It's your interpretation of what is actually written which is incomplete. Tell us the difference between "their" kinds and "his"kinds found in Genesis chapter one.

Gen 1:25 And God made the beast of the earth after HIS kind, and cattle after THEIR kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after HIS kind: and God saw that it was good.

Those who don't know the difference, have made up the ToE in a vain attempt to explain what God told us more than 3k years ago. Amen?

Sure they are.

No, no it's not. It may come as a surprise to you, but the modern biological sciences are not based on interpretations of a 2000+ year old religious text.

Copy paste as much as you want from the Bible, but nothing is going to change that fact.

Someone needs a course in high school biology.
Someone needs a course in Etymology:

Online Etymology Dictionary said:
genus (Latin plural genera), 1550s as a term of logic, "kind or class of things" (biological sense dates from c. 1600), from Latin genus (genitive generis) "race, stock, kind; family, birth, descent, origin," from suffixed form of PIE root *gene-* "give birth, beget," with derivatives referring to procreation and familial and tribal groups.
