My father suffered a heart attack.

It happened on Tuesday.

He will require quadruple bypass surgery.

The good news is he's still a strong man... in decent shape... and has a good attitude. The bad news is... it's a bit of a waiting game(there's a doctor shortage here and you have to wait your turn - so to speak) and we're still not sure when he can get his surgery... the doc initially says next week some time. Hoping to find out tomorrow when the doc can perform the surgery(This is where I envy the USA in your current system... if he was in the US he would be recovering from the surgery by now).

If you could please offer a prayer for him... he could use it.

Heartfelt prayers. I know that waiting game after a scary heart attack for (let's face it) the scary surgery--in husband's case it was supposed to be a quadruple bypass, but ended up a triple bypass with repair of mitral valve--hopefully your dad's will be less too. (Of course in our case, it was because they couldn't stabilize, not for the known doctor shortage, but it ended up being a missing summer.)

Suggestion: If after operation, doctor advises Cardiac Rehabilitation for your father, I hope he decides for it. It's worth it. With the wait and the surgery, the patient is as "weak as a kitten" and is quite frankly, scared. The therapy helps immensely.

My wife's Grandpa was gettin' heart work (bypasses) done like each year for several years...he was in his mid 80's...he always did fine...he would tell us "Oh, gotta go get a bypass, then when I get home, I'll tend to my roses"....it was like no big deal...

We had some potentially good news today. Hubby's family doctor said that she thinks all the problems he had with the stress and nuclear stress tests recently may have been due to blood pressure problems which have been helped with a medication change, and although she still wants him to have the cardiac consultation soon, he may not need an angioplasty (or more) at the present time.

We will wait till he meets with the cardiologist, of course, but it sounds promising.

I am glad, AMDG, that your husband's surgery was not as extensive as the doctors initially thought would be necessary, and that he had the opportunity to do cardiac rehab.
