  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Because He cleaned up the mess.

What would you think if your teenage son spilled milk on the floor, then just walked away and said, "Let nature handle it. It'll be gone tomorrow."?

So, you expect God to think and act on the same level as your teenage son?

Seriously, what happened to the biblical scholars of the world -- mass suicide?

No, but I expected you to understand the point.

Thanks for letting me down.

The failure is yours, AV -- as always. Just because you have such a low opinion of God that you demand He clean up his omnicides for your convenience doesn't mean the rest of us have to accept such drivel.

Um, I think you missed his point.

What motivation did God have for making the real world contradict the Bible?

Surely if he wanted people to believe in him, he'd've made the two match up.

When He leaves us Documentation as to what He did, and even warns us in that Documentation not to pay attention to the physical world, and we ignore It, I would think it would be hard to make that accusation against Him stick.

If God's actions show him to be a deceiver, a liar, a sociopath, and a genocidal maniac, what value is his "documentation"?

It's about as useful as a written letter from Hitler saying Auschwitz had an "accidental" gas leak.

Why would what he says in his "Documentation" and what we see in the physical world not match up?

Where the two don't -- let's call them "seams" -- a miracle occurred.

Ok, but that doesn't answer the why. If what we observe as reality is true, and if what is written in the Bible is true, they should match up perfectly. But they don't.

Why would god make this the case?

Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse
That's right --

What say you, AV?
I don't know what you're getting at.

1. God destroyed the earth with a global flood.

  • Why? because mankind was on the way to extinction.
2. He then cleaned up the mess.

  • Why? this paved the way for the earth to be repopulated -- and repopulated quickly.
3. He could have removed all evidence, but didn't.

  • Why? so that others could view these [signs and] wonders and be convinced of what Shem was telling them.
Just educated guesswork on my part, though.

Because he's a madman, a sociopath, and a coward -- as his actions clearly show.

You can understand how this would lead people to ignore his actions and focus instead on empty words.

That's fine, educated guesswork I mean. I'm open to conjecture ;)

But yea, your answer sort of touches on what I was asking... though, I wasn't asking with only the flood in mind. It is, however, a perfect example to use.

So you think god cleaned up the evidence so that the earth could be repopulated quickly. Would geological evidence have impeded earth's hasty repopulation somehow?

Well, I know that's what you think... but I'm interested in AV's response because he's the one that insists the evidence for the flood, for example, has been "cleaned up." For me, aside from the fact that I obviously don't believe any of it, this is completely unnecessarily convoluted. Just interested in why god would deem it necessary to wipe away his footprints in the sand, so to speak... especially if he wants us to believe the flood happened. Seems more than a little dubious to me.
