That is a common misconception and would not happen. Earth's gravity is due to its mass, not its rotation. If rotational acceleration had an effect on gravity, gravity would decrease from 9.8 m/sec at the equator to nearly 0 m/sec at the poles, which we all know doesn't happen.

Explain how an object moving along --- or stopped in --- its ecliptic path so violates science that a miracle-performing, omnipotent God cannot allow it to happen.

More than likely it was an extremely overcast day where the position of the sun could not be determined at all. Therefore, the sun appeared to the observer not to move. Hey! I just explained your embedded age phenomenon. Isn't that cool?
