Deception or no deception?

Note: Yes, the documentation would contradict the documentation found in the Bibles on Earth2; and yes, Earth2 could be considered a modified form of Last Thursday ... but humor me for the sake of understanding the point I'm making.

Its inhabitants could not be blamed for failing to accept the truth of the documentation provided without definitive evidence that it is to be believed over all other observations. If they do not have such evidence, then they have been tricked into rejecting the truth. If that's not deception, it's at least orc mischief.
