My Sheltie is by my side ALWAYS--she doesn't want to even be in another room. The exception is when we take a walk or go outside. Because she has such a strong herding instinct, anything that moves is fair game for a chase. That's why she wears a harness and a collar in some situations. She only did it once, but if she ever slipped her collar (because I don't have it tight on her neck, especially with all her collie fur) I have double protection. So if there is traffic, I have her in a harness and a collar and sometimes 2 leashes (am I a protective DOG MOM or what?).

Your Dad doesn't know much about dogs. Your dog is submitting to him nervously out of fear. Praise and treats are what you use to get your dog to do what you want. You will have to give him treats as you put the choke chain on him. Let him know that the walkies are a fun time to look forward to. Be sure to tell him what a good boy he is.

I am in a hurry for now, but it is quite possible your Dad has done some major physical harm to your puppy (we know he has done mental harm) Maybe you shoudl call your vet to make sure he hasn't caused very serious damage to his tracchea or spinal column for starters. I would throw that choke chain in the trash immediately, Just the name of it is a warning, choker collar!!!!! that is what it does, choke them. Also, you need to check into obedience training immediately for puppies. If you have a Petsmart near by they have classes all the time for puppies and very reasonable. Plesse before any more damage is done to your puppy.

Well, first, it was my first post, as I stated I was in a hurry, did not have the time to read all of the replys, did not want to see the poor puppy get any more stress forced on it.
But what is annoying is that you asked for responses, then when it was something you did not want to hear you got a little aggitated, looks like you or your Dad are short on patience. Patience is a must for pupppies. As for the puppy peeing, it sounds like it is a submissive urination, which comes from FEAR. It only takes one incident like the choke chain to cause lifetime problems with a puppy, looks like that is what has occured here. And it is very obvious that your puppy did not get over it!! (which if I remember correctly is what you told me to do?) Sadly, the pupper is the one to suffer. And another annoying thing is people getting an animal, not educating themselves with it's care, then getting annoyed with responses that are directed to help in the education of the situation.
Thought since this was a Christian forum it would have been a little friendlier.
but that is why I love my animals as they are forgiving and truely loving, and very patient and forgiving. Must say that you have given me a very bad first impression with this forum!!!!!

listen lady, i understand..LOVE LOVE LOVE PATIENCE PATIENCE PATIENCE..Im not a dog, i dont need to be told 550 times to do something before i do it. Im so annoyed with u its pretty sad. Sorry i went of on you, not really, guess im going to have to pray about that. My dogs fine, trust me, he now walks on a LEASH and isnt afraid of it anymore, he pees when i go outside, because he is excited, kinda like a lil kid, when they get all excited they tend to urinate in there pants. Just like MY PUPPY! My dogs fine fine fine fine fine. I have patience, I did with everyone, i was glad to get there responces...JUST LIKE I ASKED. But u were just repeating the same things and obvisouly it was annoying me. My dog used the **** thing ONCE he doesnt use it anymore. U swear like when my dad used it he was trying to hurt my dog..NO my dad is prolly one of the most gentlest people i know, i mean come on he cried on bambi..he's a softi and patient. So dont put down my dad when all he did was try to help my dog, Yes he made a mistake, a bad mistake but u dont beat someone down for that, I resent u calling my dad impatient. How do u make that assumption? Ur horribly wrong..and like i said before GET OVER IT

Hey Guys. When ever i go outside, my puppy gets overly excited and pee's allll over the place..Is this normal?
yes, it is normal. :) Don't worry - and don't fret over the negative posts you're receiving.......anyone who read through the ENTIRE thread knows the real story. Just ignore it - it's not worth you getting upset over. I posted earlier in the beginning when you first started this thread and meant to tell you when you were so upset in the beginning that I hoped I hadn't made you feel bad. We live and we learn. Again, don't let others get to you - you are the one there, you know the truth - that's all that matters.

Thanks Blessed u made feel a ton better :) Oh and one more thing to That one person, i forgot her name thingy, the one that was REALLY frustrating me, u said that my puppy was peeing cuz she was afraid of my dad, well when i turned off the computer i realized something, we had my puppy for a couple of weeks before TRYING the choke chain, and she was peeing before we used it, so it has nothing to do with it. So thank you... THANKS A TON BLESSED
