  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Rachel, I love German Shepherds (although I love belgians more now) My girl, Kora is 8 1/2, and my boy Cai is about 5 now I think . They are my best friends and mean everything to me...Kora is truly an  in disguise.
While I'm here (and I'm not intending to be harsh or whatever), I just thought I'd educate everyone about Belgian Shepherds so you don't confuse them...
Just to let you know, long haired German Shepherds are not Belgian Shepherds... They are German Shepherds with long coats...and they can be "normal" G.S. colour, or black...G.S. are sometimes white too, but I've never seen a white long hair....
Belgian Shepherds are completely different (although people sometimes think they look the same:doh:  ) Belgies are more 'square' in shape (length of back is the same as height of shoulder), have a double coat, and don't get the 'doggy' smell...(my dogs go for months without a bath, cause they don't smell)
There are in fact 4 types of belgian shepherds.
1. Gronendael (these are the 'common belgian shepherd): Black, long coats...
2. Tervueren: (of which I have 2!)these are the brown, long haired belgian shepherds...although really they can be grey, fawn, red, brown, with a black charbonage (?sp) or overlay which is black on the end of their long guard hairs... with black mask on face.
3. Malinois: short, haired, brown...(well, basically same colours are terv, but short hair) with black mask
4. Lakenois: wire-haired / curled coat, generally fawn or red...
Basically, if you shave any of the animals that are of a Belgain Shepherd variety, they all have the same body shape etc... the only thing that distinguishes between the varieties is the coat type.
Anyway...sorry... I tend to get a little 'worked up' about this, cause people are always trying to tell me they are the same thing...:sigh:
I was going to try to add a few pics of the varieties, but it won't let me...but you could have a look at http://www.users.bigpond.com/belgianshepherds/
This is the website of the wonderful person who bred my Kora....
See ya!!!
Hugs to all, and their dogs!!!
Lisa
