Thanks guys.

I have the wonderful feeling. It's like a presence is with me, and also a massive burden has been lifted.

I think I will be a powerful convert to Christianity, and will grow in time. I have intelligence and empathy and compassion, and people do listen to me.

But at the moment I feel that I have to heal from my sinful past.

I honestly believe in Satan influencing humans to exploit their sinful nature.

I have seen some things that I would call evil.

Perhaps this has really spurred my conversion over the last year or so.

Let me tell you that I was completely lost. Almost dead physically and many times almost killed myself.

But here I stand today, saved.

I know I have a lot of work to do.

I also know that satan will work very hard to get me back.

It ain't gunna happen! I can him now for what he is.

God Bless

D :holy:

None of that is going to matter if the Spirit is not at work in your heart and in their hearts.

Oh tooo tooo cool to take in! I always knew this site was worth it - even just for ONE!

I'm in tears here! Someone pass me a tissue!

God bless and keep you, Davin. May he make His light shine upon you and keep you safe always. He will be with you for ever and ever no matter what the circumstances.

Oh wow!

 Brother... you are NOT kidding - I've seen distinct verses that spell something right out in black and white, AND IT STILL ISN'T ENOUGH to convince some about truth of what God teaches.

If God isn't enlightening someone (not just nonbelievers - even people here claiming to know God who deny clear scriptures), I don't care how good our argument is.
As I know it, Jesus stood there right in front of the people performing miracles - and many continued to reject after visual proof.

So do you think God played a hand in my conversion?

Just trying to work it out.

I definately felt guided. I definately felt tested.
Well the Bible says that none can come to He, unless He enables them. Which some people take to mean that God chooses who is saved and who is not. I don't believe God ever declines a soul, yet there is an unforgiveable sin mentioned in the Bible, which is blasphemy of the holy spirit. I personally believe that this is what Pharoah did as written about in Exodus, God gave many chances for Pharoah to submit to His will, yet he denied Him. That is what I feel blashemy of the holy spirit it. It's when God knows that no matter what, the soul will not accept Him, no matter what happens. God later is said to have hardened Pharoah's heart against Him sealing his fate.

I wouldn't quote me on this, it's just my understanding of what is otherwise a very complicated subject.

The short answer, is that God has a hand in everything, as every human on earth has an immortal soul and the holy spirit residing within them. If they are open to it's guidance, then it will guide them. If not, if they instead sear their conscience against it (ie. dull their senses by convincing themselves that their sin is ok), it becomes hard to feel it or experience that inner sense of something leading you to action, when you would otherwise stay your hand.

It is difficult to tell these things apart sometimes, but with time it comes and gets stronger. The Christian journey is a rocky road sometimes, but as long as we take small steps, we can mount the otherwise insurmountable. :) It's when you try to climb a mountain in a day, that you fall.

Cheers!

No man comes to the father , without the Spirit drawing him.

I have thought on the passages in which Digit refers to on the hardening the heart of Pharaoh. We do know that God will turn some over to a reprobate mind.
In my Spirit I trust in the Lord that is it not his will for any man to perish but come to repentance.
The ways of the Lord will harden a rebellious heart, a heart that embraces sin and does not seek the will of God.
So to my understanding it is the will of man to choose, God knowing the heart of all man kind , does not change our free will.
But there is a time when God will give you what you want with the consequences that goes with it.

I agree with both Digit & Chie -- imo, the thing is this, HOWEVER IT WORKS with free will, God has done ALL THE WORK to enable us to come to Him for our salvation. And He's given us enough measures of faith to accept His calling.

That's what we need to focus on; Christ's saving work on the cross and our part to repent and live for Him as His children. That's the gospel message, and I don't get all hung up on all the infinite details in all their fullness.

I just wanted to thank everyone here in this area of the forum.

I've decided today (or was it last night) that I want to be a christian.

I will be taking it slow. I have a lot of areas in my life that need changing because of my 'old ways'.

I have a lot to learn.

This is a conclusion I came to on my own (and with God).

I decided that I won't let other Christians stop me from knowing God.

All the church hypocrites and politics that drove me away - I will avoid.

I should have put my faith in God, and not let other people change that.

Thanks again guys and gals.

Thank you digit for being a friend and talking to me via PM. It helped to have another male around my age and living in my city to talk to.

Cheers

David :prayer:

Welcome to the family, Davin!!

You're a son of the Most High now, and the angels are singing for joy!

God bless you, bro!!

Thank you again to everyone who has welcomed me.

I must thank this site in playing a part in my connversion. As much as it angered me at times, I still had access to some great christians.

Also it seems that my faith grows stronger each day. Is that supposed to happen as we wipe the cloud of ignorance from our lives? :groupray:

Just trying to work it out.

The Bible says He always does.

"No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day." - John 6:44

Please do not think I am not welcoming you. I apologize if I came off any other way. I am glad to see you come into our family. What you said about your "credentials" just made an alarm go off in my head because that is the beginning of the sin of pride, and that one can be a doozie. That is what made the devil rebel in Heaven. God knows your good qualities, He made you, and He has redeemed you - good. But they are not what makes you a "better" Christian. The Holy Spirit has to make us strong, wise, and virtuous. His power within us is what makes us better Christians, not the good things we already had.

Yes, it does happen. For some almost immediately; for others, it's a process. But the book of Acts speaks of something like scales falling from Paul's eyes as he began learning by the Holy Spirit and it's happening to you. Good sermons will make sense. The Bible will make sense. You are seeing things with spiritual eyes now. And it's a whole new world out there.

Praying for your growth, brother!

I think I just hear the saint and angels singing wonderful songs of praise that another child has come back to God! Praise HIM!

Not only have you helped yourself, but you have just given me a sprout of inspiration. I love to see that the Gospel is changing minds and hearts! :)

If you need any help with anything, feel free to contact me and I will do my best to help.

Welcome to the family my friend! -great big bear hug- :D

Please dont take this as an unwelcoming statement because it does bring me joy when I see a person being reconciled to God.

The only question I would ask is this..."Was there repentance in your heart when you came to the Lord?"

Did you felt a heavy burden and guilt for your sins and asked Him for forgiveness? Did you wept over your sins? True conversion is preceded by repentance. Lack of repentance produces false converts and these will fall away from the faith whenever trials and tribulation arises.

When I read your post it made me think of the Matthew 13 sower parable. I haven't read that in a long time.

Congratulations Davin and God Bless you! :amen: :)

I just wanted to add that I started visiting these forums some weeks back. My story is a bit different in that I guess for a period of years I was a kind of "seeker". I went from technically Christian (even though looking back I wasn't really) to even agnostic, flirting with atheism.

But then I started to pray again. I've actually been doing it for I believe about five years. I prayed to God to come into my life, organize my life, and make me into the person He wanted me to be, that I wanted to be. Then one day I discovered the forums here . . . God works on HIS time, not ours . . . I feel now like before I didn't understand what the Lord God was all about, but at present more than ever in my life I am committed to Him, and I really, honestly do believe (have faith) with all my heart, soul, and mind that like you I will be a powerful convert, and will grow in time. I know what you mean too about wiping the cloud of ignorance from your life. No one should ever think that spreading the Good News, talking about God here won't lead others to Him. It DOES happen! ;) The Holy Spirit works through the internet.

Again God Bless. :)
